My property is as flat as a pancake. Pretty much zero potential for roll over.

I know the rops folds but I am contemplating removing it. In the lowest folded position (where you can稚 put the pin in) the hood won稚 open to check oil, blow out radiator, clean air filter etc. If you raise it slightly and put the pin in the hood will open put the rops is still high enough to hit some tree branches. When I mow I am often leaning to one side or the other or ducking to miss branches. Any reason not to unbolt it and store in my shop? I know I need to keep it around to put back on if I ever sell or trade.

I have a sun shade on mine and it’s a nice luxury otherwise I’d unbolt the ROPS in a heartbeat.

Funny this thread came up. Today I used my ZD for the first time this season and contemplated taking my ROPS off as well. Up or down, it's always in the way.

Mine is coming off. It is only two bolts.

I have a canopy on mine but I do wish the ROPs was about 2-4" lower for tree clearance

Flat land and never going to be on any slopes/hills/ditches/gullies and you want it off, take it off.

Spent some time in the shop today working on it. ROPS is off. Mulching kit installed. Plug for battery tender installed. Seat switch bypassed. I don’t know if my switch was faulty or what but several times I have had the mower die do to the seat switch when I was in the seat. Lean forward too much or hit bumps and it cuts off.

Upper part of my ROPS came off right away.

Yes I think mine is going to be removed also. Couple of small inclines on my property but no way to tip over this mower even if I tried to, so I will just store the ROPS.

Be sure you save all the ROPS parts for later use. Some places will not take a trade in or repair tractors/ lawn mowers if any of the safety devices are removed. We have a local large JD dealership that would not work on one of my zero turns because I took the belt covers off the deck. I told the manager the covers were a PIA and collected too much debris underneath. He told me nicely to go home and get them so they could work on the unit. Said there had been law suits over folks getting hurt and blaming the dealerships for the missing safety devices. We live in a whacky world these days and everyone has to cover their financial butts!
