Zero turn and hills

/ Zero turn and hills #11
All you guys running ZTs, do you have a ROPS and seat belts installed for fairly steep hill apps.? I se a lot of them with no ROP, but they may be using them on mainly flat ground. Any advice on the break point where you would definitely need a ROP on a ZT? Thanks in advance.

I run a Kubota ZD326P. I prefer mowing hills going across the hill. Going down the hill is when you can lose control.

I just mowed my friends dam which has roughly a 25 degree slope. No problems mowing going across. Mower sticks like glue.

And yes I wear seat belt and have ROPS up at all times. Rolling a ZD would be fatal at 1800 lbs.

My Ferris is ROPS and seat belt equipped but after mowing all the steepest hills with it up and no indication of slipping or flipping, I put it down so I could get under my trees better. I am thinking of taking it off completely as it still hangs some low limbs and flips up the front wheels a bit before it slides under. Definitely a limb scrapper and damaging the trees a bit when I get too close.

Trim the limbs up so they are higher than the ROPS. I'd rather damage a tree than have the mower flip on me. Zeros are naturally unstable.
