Did a search on zMAX on all forums. Only two posts found in Projects Forum in which zMAX fasteners were mentioned for building decks. Also did a search on Slick50 to see what people thought of these type of oil additives. I guess I would agree that teflon is not a good thing in your engine. Now what about zMAX ? Does it also contain teflon or is it something totally different ? The web site I went to did not explain what the product was composed of. This stuff originated way back in 1936 & was called "Speedway cocktail" by developer Joe Lencki. Was also know as Lenkite.

The claim to fame of this product is that it has much smaller molecules than regular oil & therefore can get into all the small fissures on metal surfaces to provide superior lubrication.

This stuff has even been approved by the FAA for use in Aircraft.

You guys must have seen the latest marketing blitz in which A.J. Foyt says he uses it.

This stuff has been around a long time. Suprised nobody has mentioned it here on this forum. Somebody must know if this stuff is just another Slick50 clone ???

Thanks GSXR1100.

Z71,

Thanks, excellent site, have it bookmarked. Think they totally destroyed any credibility that these Oil Additive Companies have.

There is something in Duralube that works. I can't prove the value in engines (although my junk of a 2.8V6 lasted 310,000 miles on Duralube - and then it was the transmission that went). I've seen fine machine oil last maybe a month in a certain bushing, like a fan or some such - then squirted a shot of Duralube in (in the hand pump dispenser), and it would go years! My Shopsmith bearing fell apart - tried some WD-40, then motor oil to finish a project - lasted 30 seconds - but a shot of Duralube lasted many hours until the replacement arrived. I'm not sure what it is, but I've seen it work very well in these items - try it where you can really see it work. Duralube is a non-Teflon product - they say it treats the metal, not the oil. Does anybody know more about it?
