Front-End Loader Worst things to do to a FEL

/ Worst things to do to a FEL #61
I'm glad some of you guys added some humor to this thread because after reading some of the advice given, I don't even know why some people have a FEL!

You can do many of the things listed as "not recommended" as long as you use some common sense.

Eventually, Darwinism will sort out those without the common sense :)

I think using a FEL is just like everything else. Tell someone to use a maximum load of X and they will soon try 2X, just to see if they can get away with it. :confused2:

Gotta start somewhere.

:D:)

Now, that's funny right there. And true, too!

When dig out stumps and applying a lifting pressure the bucket slips off the stump with a might bang and potential damaging jolt. I now dig around the stump and push with great care. I use 2 wheel drive sometimes so I know how much pressure I am putting. In 2 wheel drive there is less chance of applying a breaking pressure when pushing

Don't throw a rope up and around a tree limb that is too big to pull down for with the FEL for easy cutting. The wife **** near had our 2320 vertical, she was looking up at the limb while dropping the bucket and did not realize the front of the tractor was coming off the ground instead of pulling the limb to the ground. She said she has seen me do it all the time, I told her not with that big of a limb.

Sounds like you should be chaining the stump and using the drawbar rather than the FEL to actually displace the stump. Bucket is decent for digging at roots but every tractor has at lease two or three times as much pulling power than what the FEL can do.

I am not trying to start anything, but the comment about not digging with the FEL, gave me a chuckle. I dig all the time with my current Kubota, and did so with my smaller B7500 when I had it for 8 years.. The biggest digging job I did was with my old Long 2360 which was a 2WD tractor with loaded tires and ballast on the back.. I needed a large berm for my shooting range, so I took the top off of a hill I did not want. I probably dug at least 100 tons of dirt with the front end loader alone over a period of a month or so. The old Long had a Westendorf TA25 loader on it, and it worked quite well.

Please explain:confused:
