No thumb!

That will be a show stopper then. :)

When looking at tine thickness 1/2" seems to be the most common thickness of a metal like AR400.

Has anyone had a problem with the very tip ends of the tines snapping off?

I have never had a problem or a regret about the thumb on my machine, but it is much smaller than yours.

Though I haven't had my 110 near as long as CurlyDave, I can tell you that I couldn't imagine doing the little digging I have without the thumb. I've been uprooting some trees and moving rock and haven't had to leave the operator station. Is really nice! If your just digging trenches, it won't do much for you though.

Thanks guys. The thumb I have orded above is manual. Do you find you can still do a lot of things not requiring the thumb without putting in in the "stored" position?

My EMP thumb while stowed on my BX25 is a minor hindurance during digging sessions, nothing to write home about, it's still a keeper.

Ditto, the thumb makes it difficult if not in the store position, but taking the 2minutes to store it is a small price to pay to enjoy the added plusses of the thumb. Would not send it back!

Do you mean in the way? If so I haven't. My thumb is hydraulic so maybe it's different, but in the upmost position it doesn't interfere at all

I believe he is asking about manual thumbs like I have, where we have to move a pin to bring the thumb up to stored position.

Yes I am asking about the manual thumb usage.

I would love to have a hydraulic thumb but have a few concerns beyond the cost since I would have to tap in and buy controls.

Limbs, etc see to find my hydraulic connections as is and make them leak a little or a lot. :D

Sure would like to have a grapple for the front bucket too but after looking at options to power it I think I would keep the hoses to it messed up. With a thumb all exposed I could see it as a real problem in clearing ground as I am doing.
