Kubota bh 92 backhoe attachment
I have a Kubota MX 4700 I am getting ready to put a bh92 backhoe attachment on it. My tractor has the HST transmission. I was curious as to how high the rpms need to be to operate the backhoe effectively? Any info would be appreciated.

I generally run mine at 1500 - 1600 rpm. I am very oppressed by how well the BH92 digs.

I was hoping it would run ok with lower rpm. Less fuel and quieter with lower rpm. Thanks for the info.

Re: Kubota bh 92 backhoe attachment
I could move loose dirt from one pile to another with lower RPM, but for actual digging I usually run at about 2000 RPM. It does suck down fuel, but you can get a lot done in an hour or two. We have a lot of rock, and to move the bigger ones, I go all the way to rated RPM. It is unfortunate that you cannot reach the throttle from the BH seat. If you have rock, get the hyd. thumb if you can possibly afford it. It is one of the best tools i have.

Mine operates just fine digging at 1500 rpm. I just finished this trench about 250' long 4 - 5 feet deep through hard clay and shale. The machine performed perfect.

Re: Kubota bh 92 backhoe attachment
If you are just getting started with using it, you'll actually benefit from having the rpm's below 2,000. The hydraulic pump puts out adequate pressure to run the hoe, but not quite so much output in gallons/minute, so everything operates with good power, just a little slower. Until you master the joysticks, that allows you to run the backhoe more smoothly. With mine, 1,600-1,700 on the tach is kind of a sweet spot for backhoe operation.

Makes sense. I probably will do what do suggest. Slower movements will help this rookie. Thanks
