I just noticed a new grapple up on LandPride's website. The SGC05.

It looks like it's meant for the subcompact tractors, this would be perfect for those, and it's the first one I've seen that wouldn't affect lift capacity much... Not bad at only 156lbs!

Here is what is listed on the LP site, it sounds like it's meant to fit the BX models, not sure what the options are for other loaders.

Move brush, clean stalls, lift debris, and so much more with Land Pride痴 all new SGC0548 Claw Grapple. The SGC05 will make chores a breeze. Easily grasp, lift, and move a variety of materials making property maintenance easier and less time consuming.

Our SGC05 tines are manufactured from high-tensile AR400 Steel to make sure it stands up to demanding use. For added strength, the frame is made of 2" x 3" rectangular tubing. And it carries the Land Pride name, so you know quality is built in.

This American-made Grapple features a park stand for easy attach and detach. The 9" tooth spacing and a 30" jaw opening make this attachment a versatile tool to help you get work done.

The SGC05 Series Grapple weighs in at 156 lbs, only 24 lbs more than the standard BX bucket. With a stated lifting capacity of up to 518 lbs, a BX25D and SGC05 together can lift up to 360 lbs more than enough to make quick work of the largest jobs.

More info here: SGC05 Series Claw Grapples | Land Pride

This might even convince me to get a BX :dance1:

It's great to see more companies coming out with such useful equipment, and now for such a wide range of tractors

That is just so cool. I wonder what kind of money they sell for. When/if one comes out for a JD 200CX loader I'll be taking a really close look!!

Looks like a very handy tool. My only concern would be that it could be easily over-stressed and twist up like a pretzel.

At first I thought the BX had to have the new QA, but looks like you can also just pin on in place of the bucket. Wonder how reasonable they are...

I really don't think that bending and breaking a grapple would be a big concern. They built this grapple specifically for subcompacts which of course have relatively low lift capacity's to begin with, and are also light weight so I think you'd lose traction before bending anything. I don't know much about AR400 steel but supposedly it's stronger and less apt to break/bend than mild steel.

Of course, you can break just about anything if you really put your mind to it, so I"m sure it's not bullet proof, but I bet it takes more of a beating than it "looks" like.

I contacted Landpride yesterday, after posting this thread, and asked about availability for other tractors, specifically the JD 1025R that a friend of mine owns. Here is their response.

Thank you for contacting Land Pride. Our Engineering department is currently working on matching our SGC0548 grapple to other subcompact tractors. There are a number of different mounts on the market and we are making an effort to match as many as possible -- even if that means offering a blank plate for dealers to weld mounts on to.

To the best of my knowledge (and I tend to follow the "grapple" world:D) there is no other company making anything like this. (I hope someone proves me wrong).

Here is a pic from they're website.

I can't imagine how much more useful a subcompact would be a grapple like this. (keeping in mind lifting limits of course).

I just found out that Artillian has one on the drawing board. They have a 12 volt diverter valve kit for sale now that is made for several loaders but it is about $600.

The only thing that would worry me is when people move long trees/wood/steel/etc. with a grapple. If not balanced properly it puts a TON of stress on the grapple and loader, and if you hit something with one end or somehow get hung up, you can do a lot of damage.

For everything thats included, and being all "plug-n-play" that is not a bad price IMHO for the diverter kit. Knowing Chris and his attention to detail I am sure the new grapple will be worth the wait.

This is the case with any grapple, on any size tractor. You can break things if you "try", but if your use a little common sense and understand the forces, you'll be hard pressed to do serious damage.

The pics above are just examples, but this "mini" grapple should be able to handle the same types of situations, just on a smaller scale.

Oh of course. You could very easily do the same with a regular bucket as well. Just saying if you do stupid **** it's fairly easy to over-torque things carrying long items.
