s1120,
What all your snow melted already over there. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Your tractor almost a copy of a Speedex 1832 tractor w/a plow.

You have good back up for plowing those heavy storms.

Re: What\'s with the poll results?

I've got a '79 Dodge 318 auto. Has two headlights on each side. Fulltime front wheel drive. Quite a different beast. Has four ranges Hi, Hi-Lock, Low, and Low-Lock. Rarely ever had lock it in driving thru the snow. Pulled a lot of logs with that truck./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Had a '74 too. Had a short driveshaft between the tranny and the transfer case. Right under the cab. Snapped the rear u-joint on that shaft once, man I thought it was gonna come right up thru the floor. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Re: What\'s with the poll results?

DFB,
I had the single head light Dodge 78 4wd long bed 318 auto transmission..talk about a gas hog and rough ride in the spring time...yikes...also engine for some reason burn oil {check the gas and fill the oil} also that white block kept burning out that starts the engine on the fire wall..had enough of her and traded w/about 24,000 miles for a Ford F100..thats another story. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

My first pick up was the Dodge slant 6 72 used w/a 3 speed on the column, you couldn't kill that engine but the body had its rust problems {real bad} best p/u so far even on recap tires. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Back than when you slam the door you heard metal to metal not so now a days..heck just try and figure out how to program the radio w/ these new p/u's. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Hope you are ready for this nasty storm headed your way.

Stay warm and enjoy your day.

Re: What\'s with the poll results?

Thomas,

Yes, the '78 had round headlights. My '79 has the rectangular ones. I've got the short box. Always been a good truck for me. Fuel economy sure wasn't one of its attributes though. When I bought it used back in '87 the odometer was ready to roll over. Never burned any oil. I still see quite few older Dodge trucks on the road. Maybe I just notice them more. Sounds like when you traded you went from the frying pan into the fire./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Been lightly snowin' since 7:00 am. Not much accumulation yet.

Slant six one tough engine.

that white block kept burning out that starts the engine on the fire wall

I guess you're talking about the "ballast" I believe they called it. Many years ago, I had a '72 Chrysler Town & Country station wagon, 440 engine, that failed to start in a campground on the Texas/Louisiana border. No chrysler dealer in that little town; 3 mechanics at the Chevrolet dealership spent a day and a half trying to find the problem before I suggested they call a chrysler dealer and we learned it's a 5 minute job and a $2 part./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif Then I had a '77 Dodge 3/4 ton, 360 engine, that was one tough truck; survived both my teenagers learning to drive, and I only had the change the ballast once.
