Is it just our Tractor Supply or is it all of them

A lot of people say that they like KK products and that they perform well. I guess it's a situation where their engineering is good but their assembly and QC is terrible. It has been proven over and over that producing high quality products costs less than producing poor quality. A good example is that it doesn't cost any more to apply the logo rightside up but I'm sure the upside down logos will cost KK sales. If they don't care about the quality of their products they probably don't require their suppliers to deliver high quality components. Sooner or later it will catch with them.

I found a TSC about an hour from me. Took a ride there today and really liked the store. It was very clean and organized with a huge selection. The implements (KK) were outdoors but in very good condition. The prices are very reasonable and their items seem to be of good quality. I'll have to make a list and bring the van the next time I go! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Your original post said you had bad welds, but not that they were just tack-welds as this additional info implies. Also, this stuff didn't happen to the sub-soiler on the way home. Why did you buy something if it was so poorly made? I think you have an honest complaint here, but I think your motivation was driven by price, and sometimes you get what you pay for. KK or TSC subsoilers are very inexpensive (around $100). You had to modify it to get it to work and that is unacceptable. I would not want that subsoiler. If I buy it and it works and doesn't break, then I'm okay with it. After I've had it for a few months, it will not look pretty no matter what it started out looking like. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Unfortunately, most TSC stores do that.. Our oldes store near me.. has had at least one implement on their lot for about 5 years... and don't care if it sells..

At the other two stores now and then they will give you a small deal ( 10% maybee ) on some scratch and dent or returns... but it is few and far between.

Jinman, the reason that I bought the KK subsoiler was because they advertised that it was designed specifically to work with the BX tractor (XB model). It had nothing to do with price. TSC did not have any in stock so I ordered one from them. They called me at least twice and said that it was in. The first time I drove 15 miles to pick it up and found out that they ordered the standard CAT1 subsoiler instead of the XB model; the second time I verified over the phone that they received the wrong unit. I finally gave up on TSC and ordered it through a local tractor dealer and he had it in two or three weeks. When I went to pickup it up at the dealer, I saw right away that it looked like crap. I decided to take it anyway because I was desperate to use it. I had been waiting two months to install electrical lines so that I could complete a landscaping job. If it had not been for the need to complete the landscaping project I would have sent it back. I elected to fix it rather than sending it back. I made that clear to KK when I called them.

It sounds like a lot of people like KK products so maybe I just had a bad experience.

John, I think you have plenty of reasons to be upset. I understand why you accepted the product and decided to fix it yourself. I've been in that situation with my tractor, but that's another story. Essentially you bought a "kit" of parts that was only partially assembled and finished the job itself because you didn't have anymore time to waste on waiting. I would sure have been tempted to do the same thing.

I got a TSC sub-soiler for Christmas and haven't used it yet. I'll have a closer look at it this weekend and let you know what I think about it. Maybe I'll even post a photo so you can tell me whether it compares to yours in quality. If it breaks when I use it, I will NOT be happy. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Did all Jim's get a KK Subsoiler for Christmas? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I got mine, I've used it a couple of times now on my little 24. I've "tilled" my garden up with it and I broke the ice up on the gravel driveway. And to think I asked for it because I just wanted to run an electric wire to my sheds.

I just recently escaped from the Big City, so please forgive a stupid question,

but what is a subsoiler, and what might I consider using it for?
