What would you call it?

No sprocket needed, you can use a cheap winch. Just take the handle off and give the cable a couple of wraps around the shaft
leaving a tail a few feet long of cable hanging free.Might have to rig up some sort of rails to keep the cable wrapped. But it can be done.

I'm glad to see someone finding out that the load handler works. I've been useing one for about 10 years. I used to have a remodeling co. and used it for construction debris, blocks bricks sand, gravel, etc When I first bought it a lot of people laughed. But after useing it those same people would want to borrow it. I even use it to spread gravel on driveways, just have someone drive the truck slowly and walk beside it cranking as you go.Works great.
The drawbacks are if using in a truck,I would try to shovel arround the wheel wells to keep the load from coming off the tarp. The handle is easy to misplace. I left one at the co. dump and had to make another one. Also after about 5 years the pipe end where the handle goes in colapsed, so I welded another piece of pipe that just fit over it and cut handle slots in it with a grinder, still going! Its about time to replace mine. The tarp has some holes now.But I must say I got my $ worth and then some!
One thing to remember is to keep it clean.I hosed off the tarp after each day of use and it worked better than if it were dirty. JT

Has anybody compared the Std vs the HD side by side to see what the differences are?

The Std run about $100, the HD about $150.. Just wondering if it is worth it for the amount of work I have to do (Landscape a couple acres).

Still haven't gotten around to adapting the winch to the loadhandler, other shoulder operated on. The HD has bearings on each end, the Std doesn't, the bar is a lot lighter also. Mine is holding up well, loaded it down with logs and started cutting them up off the back of the wagon and then crank them back, when the logs got short, the front of the wagon started lifting up. I've used it with wood, dirt and creek rock, the sheet is still in good shape. If I load it heavy, I put a fold in the sheet about the middle of the wagon and it makes it easier to crank when I have a full load. It's been well worth what I paid for it.

Milkman,

Really hate to break this news on you, but the rest of the team may like to know it..

Just bought the LH2000 for a total of $13.03 including tax at CSK auto (aka Checker Auto, Autoparts America, Rielly, etc). They are having a closeout sale. I'll pick it up from the store in a hour, and let you know if it is really real, but everything so far is looking that way.
