I had a 15 gal spot sprayer from TSC, but wanted a boom for it. I got one from Cabella, that was very complete and good price. Here's the link to that thread: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/86733-atv-style-spray-boom.html?highlight=cabella
It came with a solid 4' boom that had a 7' spray pattern, but after using it once, I quickly realized I needed more. So thanks to many here, I borrowed a lot of good ideas and made an extension.
First thing I needed to do was to build something I could mount it onto the tractor with. I had already bolted 1" square tubing onto the bottom of the tank, and welded slightly larger tubing onto the inside top of the FROPS of my lawn tractor. With the FROPS folded down, this allowed a very stable way to carry the sprayer on my lawn tractor to spray around tight areas.
So I took this idea and built on it. The first pic, I got a regular draw bar from TSC, used the ball to secure a piece of U channel, and welded a 1" square tube to it, and made a bracket for the top link. This way I have a functional draw bar if I need to move a trailer around, as well as good base for the sprayer. Oh yeah, and I had to paint it the right color.
The second pic is of the sprayer connected to the draw bar (I use a tie down trap to secure the sprayer). The wire has an inline switch, so I can better control when to cut off the sprayer. I have a connection inside the cab that is used for either the sprayer or a small heater for winter.
The third pic is with the boom extended out, total length from nozzel to nozzel is 108", which should give me about an 11' spray pattern.
The fourth pic is the actual spray pattern.
All in all, it looks like it will work very well, tank may be a little small, but that should be ok for now.
Again, thanks for the ideas from PineRide, and many others.
