Earth Mover my neighbor built

I took a couple of pictures today of a home built dirt mover pan while previewing stuff that will be auctioned tomorrow. This is a bit more crude than the ones shown above. I looks like it dumps out of the back and uses one way cylinders to accomplish both digging and dumping. Notice the adjustable stops on the front of the pan to set the digging depth. One thing I would think about adding is a leveling blade behind the wheels that would leave an even 4 inch or so layer of dumped dirt.

Interesting .... seems like they used rams off of a Meyer snow plow. I am not quite sure how it is intended to work, but if it works - who cares whether I understand it or not!

Let us know what it ends up going for

Donman, Nice purchase !!! I've been gathering stock to build one. Yours seems to be the least complicated I've seen. Can we expect some action pics soon? MikeD74T

Mike, I wasn't the high bidder, in fact I didn't even bid on it. I wouldn't have enough use for it to justify the 60 square feet of storage space for it or the desire to weed whip around it all summer if I stored it outside. I'll have to admit though that I was more than a little tempted when it wasn't bringing much bid interest and it went that cheap. It would be fun to play with!

Donman, I misread your post. I've got a sandbar in the brook on my property line that gets bigger every spring and is pushing the brook into the neighbors hayfield. That pan would be perfect to harvest the gravel for my roads. Thank you for posting the pics. MikeD74T

I am finally movin' earth, after removing the cable gate operator and replacing it with a hydraulic controlled apron.

John,

Why don't you start a new thread and tell us how you came about to have this nice scraper and what you did to modify it. I for one would be very interested in what you have to say.

Mike
