I built this last summer, thought there might be some interest. It works very well and levels ground like a table top. I bought a used landpride 2584 box blade and extended the sides forward and a 4" extension on the top at the back to hold more material. Hope these pics work.

Seams to me that it would work better if the weights were on the blade instead of the gage wheels, this would keep the blade from bounceing on hard packed roads, other than that it looks like a SUPER grader best box blade modification I've seen.

I think with the weights where they are would provide the best resistance to bouncing.

with the weights where they are they multiply their actual weight as the guage wheels are lifted off the ground giving the cutting edge more effective psi to the dirt than if the weights were mounted in front. looks like a good spot to me.

kinda like the difference between a gooseneck and bumper pull trailers. if your rear bumper were a blade you would want a bumper pull trailer instead of a gooseneck to multiply the downforce on the bumper, err blade...lol

DDT, What have you seen as to why this works better than a standard 3pt hitch box blade? I can see why the long tongue & wheels would alter the reaction to elevation changes. MikeD74T

Looks to me like it'd be a heckuva lot better than a standard blade configuration.

MikeD74T, This does level a lot better than a 3 point mounted blade, the long tong helps to get the tractor away from the blade. When the tires of the tractor roll over a hump the change to the blade to ground is very little so a couple of passes will usally fill in holes or remove high spots. It also digs very well even better than my 3 point BB, this has much more weight on it. If you do not have flat roads this set up will shine above a BB. Also the long touge will alow the tractor to turn every short which is another plus in tight areas.

I put the weights on the back for more control when digging. I have another set I want to add to it. I do have a little bounce if you drive too fast (enough to bounce the hitch pin out a hair pin is stardard now. I wish I could have found some foam filled tires to get more weight on the ground but I had all of these on hand. I just got some used low profile tires to keep the bouning down and are aired up to the max. The wheels and hubs are off a old feild cultivater.

When you get the hyd set right you normaly leave them there. I added more area for materail since my BB fill so quickly. I can stick my L5030 if I am not careful. I also have used a NH TC35 and it could spin out even faster but the tractor could still handle it. A freind used it to level out a old motor cycle track. He was very impressed with it. The NH did not have a loader on it but was 4x4.
I hope I explained all this correcty
