You may want to contact Case IH and talk to them to see if parts are available here in the US. As long as you can get parts, service, and the price of the tractor is good it might be a good deal.

Although I haven't been to see the machine yet I did call the local Case dealer to see about parts. They said nothing in their system says it's a European model and that he could get about 90% of the parts. Which 10% are going to be hard to get he didn't say. There're more than happy to do the service (at an hourly rate) so no problem there.

I looked it up on CaseIH online parts and they do list parts. They show it being made only in 1996. I also believe it was then sold in the US as a 5250. It would take a bit of work to see if the parts are the same.

Seems that all of the posts on Red Power that are specific to the 5150 are from guys in Europe.

Have you seen the tractor or a picture to verify it wasn't a typo in the listing?

Here is the link to the online parts site at Messick's

Case (515) - CASE IH DIESEL TRACTOR (1/96-12/96) Parts Diagrams

@Todd727- Thanks for looking into this. When I talked to the local dealer he also indicated 1996 as the model year; didn't say anything about it being sold as 5250 (or being crossed referenced to any other models).

I haven't seen the machine in person but I have seen a photo. The decal definitely says 5150. I suppose it's possible it was damaged and has a different hood, or wrong decal, though nothing else indicates that as likely. I'm out of town this week but hope to see it next week.

This one could be pretty hard to price; hard to find on other sites to see if asking price is fair. Dealer is asking $28.5k (no FEL). Says new tires, low hours. No loader. That's getting up there in age but that alone doesn't bother me. Same dealer has a:
Kubota M108S 4x4 for $28.5k (unknown hours; no FEL)
NH TS90 4x4 2000 hours (no FEL) for $26.5
Agco Allis 8630 4x4 $22.5 (no FEL)

Nearby dealer has a
Case Farmall 95 with ~2100 hours (no FEL) for $31k
1993 Case IH 5220 (with loader) and 8700 hours for $30k.

That's what I'm using for my comps. Thoughts?

Honestly, I didn't look at them carefully. Thanks for posting them here. It's interesting that a local dealer lists it as only offered in 1996. That also seems to be what Todd727 found. I'm still not clear on where this thing was offered and when.

Hi George-

Thanks for the links. I appreciate all your help.

I'll be curious to talk to the dealer to find out just where/how they came by this machine. Good to know where it was built. Not sure why but that always seems to play a part in perceived build quality. I'm still hoping to hear from others that might have used this machine.

The 5150 was built in Germany. I suspect mainly for sale in Europe. Doing a quick search, the ones I see for sale online are in England, Germany, Denmark, and Netherlands. Somehow, a few must have been transported to the states.

These dealers are listed for Case IH 5150 parts in the states.

If your data were posted from Tractordata.com that would account for the discrepancy in build dates with bona fide CaseIH dealership info. The 5150 was offered only for a short time as compared to the 5120, 5130 and 5140. Additionally, all of the original Maxxum series were built in Europe, my recollection is they were built in Doncaster, England in a factory that was ultimately spun off to McCormick as part of a the regulatory settlement relating to the Fiat purchase of CaseIH. Tens of thousands of Maxxum tractors were built to North American specs, imported and sold through the North American CaseIH dealer network. Worthington Ag is a chain of salvage yards and resellers of aftermarket parts. They do not sell new OEM parts for a 5150 or any other CaseIH model.

TBN member 'art' is a dealer principal at a CaseIH dealership and can verify and or correct any of this info if you reach out to him.

My data wasn't from tractordata as they don't list it.
I obtained my info from the link in post #4 and specs from post 4 listed in post 13 that the 5150 was built from 93-96. I'm also sure they were probably built in factories other than Germany.
Where did you get your info that the 5150 was offered for sale in the US? I found nothing that indicates the 5150 was sold here. Other Maxxum models yes, but no 5150's.
I did not specify how many were built or shipped to the US.
I also did not say Worthington sold new OEM parts. Their website only lists parts are available. They are a salvage company as their site says and the OP or anyone else would have seen that opening the link.
I'm just trying to provide info on the 5150 to the OP and not suggesting he purchase.

Take a deep breath and read my post again. I didn't say when, if, or how many 5150's were shipped to the US. Nor did I identify or attack any claims you made about that.

A lot of the parts from the 5140 may cross reference, or not. Same with the 5250. It was just a guess on my part that there may be some interchangability between the 5150 and 5250 because the 5250 overlaps the 5150 production.

In any case, no pun intended, I'd make sure before purchasing. Call Messick's. They are up in PA and someone there should be able to help you.
