Volvo Skid Steers quality or not?

I think Xenophobia is a bit of a strong word. Nobody stated they didn't like foreign races as the word is mostly understood to mean.

The fact is that while the JCB skid steers may have been built here since 2000, they were still the UK designed version until 2011. I might add that most feel (not just Americans) that the poor reputation they have is probably justified by their poor global skid steer market share. Only time will tell if it is still"junk".

You are very correct that we live in a true global economy. I highly doubt there is one skid steer that is "all American made".

The first time I heard the phrase Junk Comes from Britain was from mechanics here who worked at the local JCB dealership. Mind you it was many years ago but still...

Only time will tell :)

There's always fun acronym-based jokes for stuff though...

CADILLAC: Crazy And Demented Idiots Like Large American Cars
DODGE: Drips Oil, Drops Grease Everywhere
My Favourite is
LOTUS: Lots of trouble: usually serious.
Renault really needs one (they've picked up the "dodgy electrics" gauntlet where Lucas left off)

I wonder if two machine operators from our two continents would look for the same things in a machine?

When it comes to cars I know that we're worlds apart. The average European petrol-head looks at NASCAR and thinks "only left-hand corners? Seriously??" and the only person I know who drives an auto-box is my mum: Because she's disabled.

... I wonder what you guys make of this? ... (I grew up marshaling this kind of event)

You have something similar right?
And we have our own "only right hand corners" stuff too :) double-standards everywhere! :D

I used to run an Ford Escort 1.8 diesel :) loved it, and so long as I replaced the bits that fell off, it was fine :)

BTW... good to see Burma keeping up on the nonsensical spamming. Keep up the pointless work

Hello - lets put it this way - if you like living then get the Volvo because with the front entrance on every other skidsteer made you're rising your life and well being by climbing over buckets or implements every time you have to exit or enter the machine. I used to own a Bobcat back in the 90's and one job as I was clearing a lot and carrying brush to a pile as I went in a 6" tree trunk slipped by the bucket and entered the cab within inches of me. With this in mind all skidsteers are dangerious because you are working inches from the bucket. On another job we were renting a machine and as I approached the pile of burning trees the machine stopped and I had to exit towards the fire to escape the machine - Only Volvo offers a entrance door on the side like all machines should have - of course JCB also does because they build all the skidsteers for Volvo.

HERE we go again - Every post after three replies goes straight to Chines JUNK. Yet here in the U.S.A. Ford, Chrysler, and GM the worst have MILLIONS of cars / trucks on recall, but apparently that doesn't count.

FORD: Of all car names, Ford has the most entries - three complete pages full on one site: Fix Or Repair Daily; Fast Only Rolling Downhill; First (or Fails) On Race Day; Found On Road Dead (thanks Sameer P): Funding Our Retirement Daily (from a mechanic`s point of view); and perhaps best of all: Driver Returning On Foot (Ford spelled backwards!) GM GREAT MISTAKE. CADILLAC: Crazy And Demented Idiots Like Large American Cars, CHRYSLER: Can't Have Refund, You're Stuck Leasing Edsel's Replacement, DODGE: Drips Oil, Drops Grease Everywhere, JEEP: Once again, a bitter one - Junk Engineering Executed Poorly

I would love to be reading a Chinese thread and read that AMERICA produces nothing BUT JUNK - just look at their automobile Industry, and to think they pay HIGH UNION wages and have more recalls than any auto manufacturer on the planet. Bwahhahahah those CRAZY AMERICAN think they build quality products.

Now, what was that saying from Confucius? OH YA _ those that live in glass house should not throw stones.

Every Country, Every manufacturer Every Company build JUNK, so how about for once we don't waste everyone's time and stop bashing China, Walmart, Apple, etc. etc. etc. - It's getting WAY OLD.

I bought a Volvo MCT125c about a year ago to work around my sawmill and will never be without a 1 armed skid loader again, so far it works great and I've lifted a 5500# log with it. Controls are silky smooth plus easy to get in and out. Steve
