How about modifying a used box blade and using it as the moving part of the clamshell? A few years ago, I bought a rough looking 6' box blade for $250. It would definitely save a lot of construction time if someone had a 6' loader bucket. If they could use the ends of the "beam" that holds the scarpers as the side hinge points, maybe they could modify the top link bracket and use it as one of the hydraulic cylinder connection points.
