Yes!!! The heavy timbers for the great room went up today. Western Red Cedar. The ridge was not needed per the structural engineer but we wanted it for aesthetic reasons. It would have been easier to have a single 24' 7" ridge but since they are recycled, they could not get 6x16 from a single pole. As a result, they needed to put up temporary supports in the middle.
The steel plates will get bolted on later. Right now, they want to get the T&G we stained up on top and tarp it before Friday's Nor'easter that is supposed to be coming our way. We are on the rain/snow line so who knows what we will get. We want to tarp it so we do not get water stains on the rafters/beams or T&G.
