Kubota L245 - lift not working

   / Kubota L245 - lift not working #11
I forgot to mention in the above post that I have a frontend loader on the L275 DT. The hydraulics are served from the same pump as the 3 point hitch and the loader worked fine. Therefore we knew it was not a pump problem.

Well - got the problem fixed. After many hours of work and thought - nothing seemed to work. As I was putting the top back on the trans for the last time - I decided to inspect the vent tube one more time. I had "cleaned" it out witha small wire - but not removed it. I found that it is threaded - not pressed in. Guess what - clogged up all the way with mud from a small wasp (or dirt dauber). Cleaned all that %@#* out - and guess what. Lift works great.

Thanks for all the tips guys - that is what lead me to fixing this problem. Garden is tilled - so all is well in North Georgia.

Thanks again,
Mike

I too have an l245 with a 3pt. lift that hasn't worked in about a year. I assumed I needed a new pump because I thought I burned out the old one. It slowed before it stopped. I then cleaned the filter screen and changed the fluid but no luck.

You mentioned a cone-shaped screen. I only know of the cylinder screen that is hidden on the left side below the seat. Is there another? Also, any chance you can point out where the vent tube is? I think that is right under the seat somewhere isn't it?

I guess I have been reluctant to start pulling things out and messing with them because I have no experience with hydraulic systems, but I should probably start if I want to get things running again. Are there any newbie mistakes that I should avoid?

Ispan, the vent tube is located on the left side, just below the seat. This winter I had a freeze plug blow out on my l245. Its the one on the right side but behind, what i'm assuming is the pump. I removed the 2 lines and then the pump to get to the freeze plug. I reinstalled everything with new gaskets, and no hydraulics not working. Is there a prime on this thing . Please help????:(:confused:

After reinstalling the pump, how many minutes has the pump ran. I there a way to add some hyd fluid to the pump. Normally, a gear pump doesn't need priming.

J.J. normally I value your answers, as I read a lot of the posts, but I have to tell you sometimes going back to the basics is all you need. I'm an idiot, I installed the oil pressure pump upside down. So of coarse the 3 point would not work. Needless to say they work now. Last fix is to replce my water pump, gasket, belt and fan and I, my friend, will have a perfectly running tractor. I'm so proud of my lil beauty. I was considering a fresh coat of paint but I like the fact she looks old but runs brand new. :)

If anyone else removed this pump and reinstalled it and 3 point not working, make sure on the top of the pumps mounting flange, their is the word "rotation" with an arrow pointing away from the motor. If not turn it over.
