Came up in another thread...so I figured I could start an official thread, just post what you got for "work machines" and what you got for acreage...I'll start:

3520 Cab @ 37 hp
F935 @ 22 hp

59 total HP on 2.2 Acres = 29.5 HP per Acre.

I think your way under horsepower per acre,you need a bigger tractor:laughing:

Only counting "working" tractors.

5303 @ 64 hp
110 @ 8 hp

72 total hp on 5 acres = 14.4 hp per acre.

Boy am I way underpowered!

JD 4700 - 47 HP
McCormick C80L (Just picked up this weekend) - 74 HP
Bolens G152 - 15 HP

136 Total HP div by 282 acres = only 0.482 HP per acre

BUT prior to the C80L

62 Total HP div by 282 acres = 0.219 HP per acre

How did I survive?

Wow I guess I am way under powered too compaired to those of you @ 30-40 per acre
Kubota 3400 34HP
JD 240 mower 14HP

48HP On 5 Acres 9.6HP per acre

Dad has a JD 2040 @ 40HP
An 8n @ 27HP
and a 23HP mower

90HP on 3 acres = 30 HP per acre.

either way I feel sorry for the guys that far 1000+ acres. It must get expensive to maintain 10000-20000+ Horsepower:laughing:

I am way down on that also with 1 hp per acre. 100 acres, tractors of approx 40,30,20, and 10 PTO hp (JD 4120, Ford 8n, Allis Chalmers C, Farmall Cub)., also have (2) 12 hp lawnmower tractors which I did not count because I use them on less than 1 acre of lawn. I like having an assortment of sizes available so that I can match the job to the machine to maximize manuverability and minimize fuel usage. Much of my acreage is wooded and the tractors are used to install and maintain mostly smaller food plots and gardens of 1/2-2 acres in size so a larger tractor would not be very usefull for me.

0.7 does it for us with that selection for the acreage. We could sure use another L in hay season tho so we wouldnt have to switch implements [Haybine, tedder, hayrake, haywagon, hay elevator]. As many as 4 of those can be in rapid serial use due impending weather and the Kubs are the right size and ease of use for my wife.

New 60-acre property: 40 HP Kubota = 0.67 HP per acre

Current 1-acre house: 14.5 HP Sears riding mower = 14.5 HP per acre

:laughing: Who knew my 16 year old little riding mower would out-muscle my new 40HP Kubota?!?!

I had to look up to recall the hp rating on the JD5525 I have. It's 91 engine hp. When researching it, it made me feel good about my purchase of it. I paid $37k for it back in 2006. It's a 2006 model with cab, air ride seat, buddy seat, 24/24 tranny, SL loader 4X4, 84" JD skid steer 'foundry' bucket quick attach including R1 tires loaded and a separate set of unused (until I got them) R4 tires and wheels with only 241 hours on it. Looking at current prices, with 470 hours on it now, it's still worth a bit more than I paid for it 4 years ago.

With a bit over 200 acres I have:
91 hp tractor
37 hp tractor
97 hp track loader
38 hp mini excavator
28 hp diesel ZTR
28 hp diesel ZTR
___________
319 hp (not counting pretend 'tractors' like lawn tractors etc.)
Leaving out the little stuff, that only gives me 1.6 hp per acre.

That also doesn't count the old 1980 model year 130 hp Cat 955 track loader I sold on contract that may be coming back. Other than requiring me to buy larger trailer again, I guess it won't be a bad thing. Sort of like renting it for about 3 years or so. There's a few places I could use it where I don't want to take a rubber tracked loader anyway.
