I have debated about posting again.....but though somebody might be interested in JD's response.

I recieved a call a couple of weeks ago from the J.D. Company, myself and the field rep had contacted them. We were on the phone for over an hour. He verified all of our equipment and how its used.

2520 Tractor
62D MMM
200X FEL (we wanted the 200CX but the dealer screwed up)
Independent Lift for MMM

When we used our tractor the very first time we "OFFICALLY" voided our warranty. Apparently with the independent lift kit we were not supposed to use the MMM with the FEL attached, this puts added stress on the MMM system. JD kept covering our repairs under warranty because they go above and beyond on all of their products.

We were told by the dealer that when we mow just remove the bucket from the FEL. After the first mowing season and hitting several things, I went to the dealer again for info about an easy way to remove the FEL. I was shown how to remove the pins and support the FEL. Now we remove the FEL to mow, this has helped a lot.

When the tractor tires goes over a low spot, the wheels on the MMM hit the ground and this puts all of the tractor weight on the cross pins of the MMM. This is causing the cross pins to be sheared off and it lets the deck fall to the ground.

I told him even after removing the FEL the deck still fell out. His response was...... the pins might of been fractured before and they are just now showing up. He said to take it to the dealer and they would replace all of the pins and that would take care of all of our problems. If we continue to have issues with the deck, take it to the dealer so they can determine what the problem is and decide if it should be covered under warranty. I did ask him if anybody else has had this problem, he said he can not comment on anybody else's case.....makes me wonder.........

As of today (8-3-09) all of the pins have been replaced, we will see if that takes care of the problem.

How rough is the ground your mowing?

MMM arent bush hogs. If your bottoming out the mower on rough ground and supporting the whole weight of the tractor on the mower pins, then somethings going to give. I dont think its Deere Junk in this case.

My yard was completely redone about 7-8 years ago. Its pretty nice, not a football field more like a golf course.

I thought the mowing deck on the 2520 was a "Float Deck". I think I would pull up on the mowing deck with the deck in the down (mowing position and the engine off) and see if the deck had upward movement. If no upward movement was detected I would find out why. Even ground contact decks have upward movement this is what enables a mowing deck to follow the terrain. The anti scalp wheels are for the unexpected uneven high spots in the yard encountered by the deck when mowing. For the weight of the tractor to be transfered to the mowing deck when an uneven or high spot is encountered indicates to me the mowing deck is in a "Locked" position. Until you identify the problem that is locking the deck in the down position you will shear the pins and will eventually destroy the deck. The deck has to have movement.

Now you are telling us the pins are not falling out, but shearing off. To be honest, this sounds like a "serial poster". Someone who does not even have the equiptment but gets enjoyment of bad mouthing a brand or service.

If you even own the tractor, I think you are lucky the Corporate Deere Rep did not tell you to go pound sand. Sounds more and more like you ABUSED the crap out of it and now want to bad mouth the brand. I think the truth is told every time you post. Deere is a great brand and the service you got proved it.

Any one who is new to this "saga" read previous posts.

If, He's having a problem with his tractor he can only blame his dealer... The dealer that I bought mine from was a bad dealer, and he started stocking up on ATVs. (bombardier's)... Then he started selling a lot of them, and he concentrated more on the sells of those and lost all of his tractor business.... ATV sells in this area are very high because of the "Hatfield & McCoy" trail system.

I was stopped by other customers in his parking lot at different times asking me what I thought about this dealer, and I told them that I wasn't satisfied with his service... One guy ask me what my name was and did I buy my tractor here, and he ask me some info. concerning my mailing address and phone#.

I later got a letter from the main office of Deere asking for some info. about this dealer.. I told them how I felt, and they ask me did I want to find another dealer, and I said YES... They told me a great dealer that has several locations and that I would get better service there if I was interested, so I changed to this dealer. Carmichael Equipment is a John Deere Gold Star Dealer... They gave me a pair of JD boots for Christmas.... But I guess if you spend some $$$$ there, then they can afford $170 dollar pair of boots. ... and MY OLD DEALER is out of business selling tractors.

John Deere brand is not junk.

I read in the second link that his dealer "didn't switch his wheels" to the wide position... My old dealer didn't do that and I done it myself, and my old dealer didn't show me how to take off my BH, but my new one did.

47chevy,

If I was you I would switch dealers.. OR ..Switch brands.

You will find some dents on the hood, I was loading the FEL with wood, raised it to dump the wood in a trailer and some chunks rolled over the top of the bucket and I have a few minor dents now.

The rep said the pins were being sheared off, I assumed the cotter pins were coming out and the cross pins were falling out. Yes I did look for the pins but could not find them.

My deck does not float, it does move side to side some. The deck is raised and lowered by a hydraulic cylinder, its controled by the same joy stick as the FEL.

The rep said a 2" difference will put the full weight of the tractor on the pins.

Yes its my fault that I used this dealer for all of the service. The only other dealer thats close to me is worse.

Thanks to all for their help and concerns.

I just started reading your thread on this, so maybe this has been asked already: Which loader circuit is the lift hooked to? My loader valve has a float setting on the lift circuit. If your deck is on the lift circuit, try putting the valve in the float position. That should allow the deck to raise up over terrain changes. Unless there is a means of allowing float in the lift linkages, if it's on the curl circuit it would be locked in place, just as you're describing. If I'm re-hashing old news, I'll apologize in advance.
