Kubota L4060 HST, FEL; Kubota BX2660
The dealer delivered my BX2660 equipped with a 60 MMM and sun canopy today. After cutting my 3 acres in about the same time as I used to do it with my L3430 and a 6 RMM I am ecstatic about my baby Bota!:)

No matter how careful I was I inevitably ended up cutting the lawn with the front tires of the 3430. After 19 plus years of putting up with this I finally decided to get a real lawn mower to cut the 3 acres of grass. Plus Kubota zero percent financing made it a pretty easy decision.

My first thought was to get a zero turn. I tried the ZD26 and much to my dismay I hated it. It was fast, cut beautifully, but just took too much effort and attention to operate. If you are in a hurry to get the grass cut it is the way to go, but for me time is not as important as being able to just get on the tractor and let her go without thinking about what I am doing.

I then looked at the GR2110. Nice machine, but its just a lawnmower. I really appreciate having a multi-tasker. After lurking around the site I found several posts that spoke highly of the BX series. So, back to the dealer again. Perfect! Small and agile like a lawn tractor, and still capable of using 3 point stuff. It also fits in the shed so I do not have to make room for it in the garage.:D

I will probably never get rid of the 3430 as I use it quite regularly for all sorts of projects from moving firewood to plowing snow. Plus I have a lot of equipment I have accumulated over the years that are way too big for the BX. But, if you need a great lawn tractor that can do way more the BX is great.

Congratulations! My BX2660 is only a few days old, and I already have had to confess to the wife I am having an affair! I absolutely love that thing!

I find it funny that I felt I was the only one looking to get a BX (after having a B7510 for seven years) to eliminate cutting problems with my front tires, and now it seems like there are about six people here with the same issue. I have no regrets, and I am sure you will neither.

I do miss the "tractor" feel as my BX feels like a glorified lawn tractor, but again... for the third or fourth time, the wife said "our yard has NEVER looked this good... EVER. I think the striping attachment I made years ago gave the best appearance with the B7510 (I haven't tried it behind the BX... yet), but certainly the cut result of the BX is easily 10X better than the B ever was. Enjoy!

Congratulations on your new BX. I used to mow with my L3130 and 72 RMM and now have a 2360 with 60MMM and just love it. Better job, faster, less fuel. I'm sure your going to love yours.

I now read anything that has BX2660 in the heading. Trading my BX2350 MMM for a BX2660 MMM FEL to Barlows Equipment. Sat on my new BX2660 yesterday on their lot and for the first time out of 8 previous purchases I started the tractor on their lot and moved it back and forth a few times. Before I just bought the machine and had it delivered. Waiting on doing paperwork and them getting a FEL in for it. This will be 9th purchase from them in almost 6 years and I still look forward to the new machine arriving.

Congrats, I have had my 2360 for a month but have not put the mower deck on it yet, my grass has not come in enough for me to put away the little mower.

Unless we get some rain it will be a while still:mad:

Thanks for all the replies.

Since the 3430 had the PHD on I used the BX to move my 12' tandem axle dump trailer around the yard today. The trailer was empty, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well it moved the trailer around. It did lift the front wheels off the ground on occasion, but it sure beat having to take the PHD off of the big tractor just to move the trailer.

So, I've been thinking between the BX and the B. Of course the dealer won't let me test drive each with the FEL, so I don't really know whick one to get. Fxfymn and Robertm - you both changed to the BX because of why? Also, you mentioned cutting into your yard, does that mean the front tire were cutting ruts in the yard?

Robertm - Why did you "downscale" from the B to the BX? Have you found the BX to not lift or dig as much as the B did with an FEL? How about cutting, do they both cut as well using the MMM or a bushhog?

Any help will be great... just wish I knew how each handled...

A Dealer that won't let you test drive a unit, doesn't won't to make a sale. I been to Dealers in up state NY, told, him I was looking at the B3200, but I live in Louisiana, and just in this area working, and he still let me test drive the unit.

I changed because my B7500 with turfs, and then my B7510 with bar turfs BOTH cut the lawn terribly on turns and the ground contact-type mower bounced too much and did a less than stellar cutting job.

I feel the BX2660 is much better balanced than the B7510, and even though it weighs more than my B7510, the BX's weight is put more on the rear of the machine and less on the front tires. Also, the B'd front tires cant outward at the top on turns. I could literally watch the tires cut and rip the sod out so I was left with circles around all my trees and flowerbeds. The BX turns much tighter, and the front tires don't lean out (barely) so that even in 4WD (by mistake) the BX does not come close to showing any signs of damage on it's tightest turns.

As for the deck, the cut is 100% better. My wife still says our yard has never looked as good. The cut is absolutely beautiful. I took the mower off this weekend, and it is a pinch compared to the B. The B was supposed to come off without raising the tractor, but I never found this to be true... I always had to use the loader. NOW... the new B's have suspended decks like the BX, but they are drive-over type decks for mounting. I can't figure how the spindle covers don't crush from the weight, but I don't know the specifics.

I always wanted the BX from about seven years ago when I bought my first B7500. I thought bigger was better. When I traded to the B7510 for financial reasons and to get different tires to try and eliminate the tearing up, I looked hard at a BX again. Stupidly, I passed fopr a B7510. Even if I had had more cash available this time, I would have not looked any harder at a new B's because I feel the front axle weight of the tractor and the same square-edged turf tires (I had on my B7500) were the culprit. The BX in my opinion is clearly the MUCH better mowing machine... which is 85% of what I use it for. The current B's, however, have a different loader design, so a fair portion of the subframe weight over the front axle has been eliminated and may improve front axle weight, but the same turf tires will not.

This weekend I did a fair amount of loader work. I need to get my ballast box filled. Anyway, the little loss of loader weight capacity of the BX over the B was unnoticeable. The BX is a workhorse. I gained 5hp over my B, and the BX feels just like a garden tractor or lawn mower behind the wheel. I miss the "tractor" feel, but the mowing job is unbelievable. I noticed my front MMM link is adjusted off on one side compared to the other side, but with the great mowing results I'm getting, I don't wan't to touch it... don't fix what's not broken, right?

Go for the BX! No matter what you do, you won't be sorry. Ground clearance is the only separation in my book, unless you are looking at the largest of the B line with the tops in HP and the largest loader. If mowing is you primary use with loader work second, I doubt you'll be disappointed in a BX. For the few bucks, though, I'd pass on the smaller HP BX's and go for the BX2660. I like the BX2660 for the reclining seat alone!
