Stay Clear Of GR Series Mowers
Model Year: 2009

I bought this mower new. I have a little over 500 hours on it and have done regular maintenance on this. My rear end went out at 500 hours which cost me $2600 to repair. I got it back and put another 20 hours on it and now my hydrostat unit is going bad which was quoted at $1000 to repair. The mechanic told me this was common at 500 hours for this series. I will be unloading this for a new John Deere next week. I thought Kubotas were built to last but have found they have cheapened up their brand to improve profits. Never again will I own a Kubota mower.

Money Pit

Bought new about seven years ago. It is excellent machine as far as operation and ability to get around on wet and hilly terrain, but lousy on durability. Head gasket, thermostat, and the water pump were issues over a period of one year. There were power steering cylinder brackets and a few other issues before 600 hours. Then there was a new starter and new mower drive gear box ($1,500) recently. There have been a total of nearly $3,000 in repairs since it was new. No more Kubotas for me.

Pros: Ease of operation, good mobility with all-wheel drive
Cons: Far too expensive to keep in use with cost/frequency of repairs

Chassis is Falling Apart!

The mechanical construction of the mower is excellent and performance is more than sufficient, however, the hood has literally fallen apart from vibrations. It first cracked where the hood hinges to the body and now I have no hood at all. I don't understand why such a nice piece of equipment does not have durability . . . after all, looks are a big part of the selling feature. In addition, the wheels on the mowing deck are stationary and when you have a lot of turning, the bolts break and if you can find the wheel, fine, if not, you have to replace the nuts, bolts, washers, and wheels. A deck designed with pivoting wheels would greatly improve this piece of equipment.

Pros: Starts right up and keeps on going.
Cons: Plastic chassis does not hold up to the quality of the machine. Stationary deck wheels are troublesome and break off from the deck.

Loves Grass

Have been mowing my 5 acres for 20 years now have worn out 3 mowers of various makes. It's taken awhile to find the best on offer in Australia, so far the Kubota 2120 ticks all the squares. Ease of operation is major factor to me because of severe arthritis and stiff joints. Power steering is a must have. Couple of things that could be standard fitting are armrests mainly for added support and a 12-volt outlet (to run my weed sprayer), which I tow behind, I have fitted both myself I fitted the arm rests off my old mobility scooter with a bracket under the seat bolts and fitted the 12 volt outlet near the battery. It can handle wet and longer grass with ease and very economical. all in all I'm very happy with my Kubota highly recommend this model.

Pros: Ease of operation.
Cons: None really but very expensive in Australia.

GR2120 Review

I mow approx. 10 acres. The GR2120 has the power to take down grass that is 2'6". The diesel is a miser on fuel. The power steering is effortless. If I could give this mower a forestry rating I would. The 4 wheel drive makes going down steep hills safe. I do end up with a very sore back at 4 hours of mowing. We have to mow between the trees for competing vegetation. I sold my Pak Flail as I could not get close enough to the trees. The bad: the hydro-Static will leave you stuck if mowing up hill. It just does not have the power to the transmission to bring you back up steep grades.

Pros: 4WD PS, heavy duty mower deck, diesel.
Cons: Hydro-static transmission will leave you stuck if going up 35% grade.

Great
Model Year: 2007

This is just a wonderful mower. Diesel-tons of power. I have rough, hilly land that grower weeds, grass, rocks, in eastern Oklahoma. This mower works well, 4-wheel drive, power steering, good blade adjustment. Glide-steer works well, close cut around my trees without the back up go forward, back and forth. No problems and I do all of the PM. I am retired so much better on my back-driving in an upright sitting position. The zero turn mowers just drive every bump straight up your back. Great mower.

Pros: Just does it all well. East. It's fun to cut the yard.
Cons: Money and worth every dime. Well maybe quarter (LOL).

Problems I Found

1. The cable that automatically disconnects the outer turning wheel snapped within the warranty period and I was billed for the repair. The newer model unit now has a rod in place of the cable. After sending a letter to the manufacturer, I was told by return mail, "I could sell my used tractor to the dealer and buy the newer model." 2. It is extremely difficult to slide the mower deck under the machine with the non-caster wheels of the deck that will not roll in that direction.

Pros: Boos to the manufacturer, Kubota.
Cons: High praise for my dealer (Arrowway Tractor) for helping in every possible way.

Kubota GR2110
Model Year: 2008

Best small garden tractor I have ever owned. Pushed a lot of snow. Using turf tires. No chains. And it worked perfect. Diesel is truly the way to go and the 54 inch deck.

Pros: All-wheel drive, diesel, PTO mower deck, great MPG.
Cons: I wish it had a rear PTO.

Upset
Model Year: 2010

Dealers can't seem to fix a leak at back near trans axle. Took it back where I bought it after first use it was leaking. They said they tightened a hose. It began leaking again after about two times mowing my yard. Gradual leak got worse every time until it got so bad it leaked all fluid out. Took it to a different dealer and they said they put a new clamp on it and serviced it an charged me $170.00. Now it's leaking again and now the steering cable broke. It tears up the lawn when I turn to sharp. Now it's at another dealer getting that fixed. Can't imagine what that will cost, but so far I'm not happy with an $8400.00 mower. I noticed the new 2120 has a heavy rod on steering instead of a weak and thin cable.

Pros: Very comfortable mower if I can only keep it out of shop.
Cons: Issues need addressing.

Performance is Nothing to Write Home About

Mower with tax cost $9K. Does a lousy job of mowing. Ordered it with a "mulching" kit installed. Had to remove the kit for the mower to cut at all ($200 out the window). Mower leaves jagged cut with uneven level across width of cut (blades are sharp). Has so much power the rear wheels tear up turf when making turns. Quit using the mower near house because it tears up sod so badly and leaves heavy wind rows. Mow near the house now with an old, ten year old Toro which does a nice clean, even cut. Has plenty of power for steep slopes not near the house where quality of the cut is not so noticeable. Stuck with this mower, but would never buy another one.

Pros: Power.
Cons: Lousy cut.

Kubota GR2110

Purchased for one reason only, mow grass and lots of it. Mowing duties are shared with my wife, daughter and myself, the previous two love this machine, as for myself I have experienced two breakdowns which left me with a partial loss of control, particularly on hills, which could have resulted in injury, thankfully this was not the case. I also feel that the hydro is very weak, although I have had no problems to date, other than it refuses to climb hills with me aboard unless I hit them with a run. My dealer has been great to work with, completing repairs quickly and at no charge to date.

Pros: Turns quickly, handles well, use much less diesel than gasoline compared to my old Cub Cadet.
Cons: Reliability, lights are barely adequate, no grab handles on fender.

Another Problem

I know I already have done two reviews, but another problem. Actually at 40 hours the set screw had to be re-tightened on the input shaft to the transmission. Then at 81 hours the, coupling that connects the output shaft from the transmission to the front drive shaft started making a bad vibration. I was told by the dealer they have to replace the coupling, universals, and the drive shaft. Lucky it is still under warranty. The dealer said Kubota has a kit to improve it so they must have had other problems with it besides mine.

Pros: Like the darn thing for mowing on hills.
Cons: Don't trust it anymore. Consider trading on a BX.

GR 2110
Model Year: 2010

Bought this from a dealer that I wouldn't buy from again. If you are considering getting one I would think about the BX models. This can mow lawns with ease and the all wheel drive helps in the wet stuff. Snow blower works great. Diesel works great and sips fuel.

Pros: Fuel consumption, small, ease of use, and all wheel drive.
Cons: Cant do a lot, Hydro week in reverse, & price.

2008 GR 2110

My GR2110 has been a great tractor. The engine is great on fuel. Uses 1/3 less then the Simplicity I traded off. The 4WD has worked flawlessly. No leaks as some people have reported. The 54" deck has worked very well. Does not get clogged up like the Simplicity deck. I like the striped look it has, just like the Simplicity - like a football field looks. I also have a snowblade for the tractor, which works well. The only complaint there is it is not hydraulic lift and angle. It handles the snow very well.

Pros: Turns very tight; Great on fuel.
Cons: Needs Hydraulic lift for the snowblade.

Can't believe I had two new tractors with the same problem. After the dealer sent a tech over to find the problem,it works like it is supposed to. He found a set screw screw that was supposed to hold the linkage to the transmission input shaft,tight, was loose. It was over a turn loose, so I was only getting a little over half the speed and power I should have had. It now climbs the hills and mows like a champ. It still makes a howl when you lift the mower deck after it warms up good, but, perhaps they'll find that sometime. Now I'm a happy camper.

Pros: climbs hills, very stable, and turns on a dime
Cons: makes a squeal when raising mower deck

Go anywhere mower.

I purchased the GR2110 to supplement a ZD331 that was a bit unruly on hilly terrain and near our pond. The GR2110 is very sure footed and seems like it would go anywhere you point it. I do not hesitate to take it strait down a hill toward the pond, as it handles this type of terrain with ease. The steering is effortless and very tight. This unit can cut close around a large tree without stopping, unlike any riding mowers I have experienced. It is very efficient on diesel fuel. I only have 1 complaint, and that is the engine cut off switch when not in seat. Sometimes I wish to let it warm up, or I need to step off to remove an obstacle, like a tree limb, and the engine is cut off. The quality of cut is very good, and this is a comfortable unit to operate.

Pros: Excellent AWD, manuverability, efficient.
Cons: Safety cut off in seat.
