Thats an excellent question Redbug. I don't know the answer. My guess is that if you tell the customs agent that you took the tractor over to do some work and are bringing it back home, they would probably believe you.
Not sure though. I'm guessing the proper thing to do would be to stop in at customs on the way into the US and have them register that you were taking the tractor in.
I don't mind paying the taxes on new stuff but I can purchase a used machine here without tax in a private sale. Used from a dealer gets tax added.
