Thanks guys for responding. On the float position, I believe if you have it there would be a detent on the stick that controls the boom raise/lower. For anyone with a BX, if you could push the stick to the boom lower position hard and see if it goes into a detent (stays in the lowering position). If so, it would have the float feature. In reading the Woods manual (downloaded it from their site), it states something about using float to dig a flat bottomed trench, if I recall correctly. I suppose putting the boom in float you can dig with the dipperstick and bucket and the boom will float up an down as necessary.
Tom, I totally agree with you but Woods has fallen down on the job of late. They do not show a subframe for my
BX1860, nor for the 2360, but do for the 2660. They do show a subframe for the older
BX1850 and 2350, however. I called their tech support line and was basically told if my model wasn't listed, they didn't have a BH for it. The guy basically wanted to get off the phone as fast as he could. Very disappointing. Not totally deterred, I tried working through a local dealer who called and e-mailed Woods engineering. He was trying to get some measurements on the
BX1850 sub frame thinking it probably didn't change with the
BX1860. After 3 weeks we gave up. He couldn't get a response.
Coincident with all this I got some quotes on trading in on a
BX25 and also put my 1860 for sale on CL. I had it sold last week until the guy called Saturday morning and backed out. So, I've now gone to looking up the frame part numbers on the
BX1850 and 1860 and low and behold they are the same, so I'm 99% sure it should fit. Nevertheless, if I buy the Woods BH and it doesn't fit, it's my dime to ship it back plus pay restocking fees. An expensive mistake albeit a remote one.
I could trade in my 1860 next week to get the current Kubota 0%/60 month deal, but the trade in quotes would leave me feeling a little used.
Oh, by the way, for anyone considering the Woods unit, it now comes with bosses formed into the dipperstick for a pin on Woods thumb, which I like better than having to get a bolt on one for the BX.
Decisions, decisions. Stay tuned.
