Has anyone had repeat issues with the metal hydraulic line that's on the back of the tractor....it runs to the hydraulic manifold on the rear of the tractor...sprouting hydraulic leaks all the time? This is the third time in less than 18 months it's started blowing hydraulic fluid since new. I don't know what's causing it but it sucks that the tractor is always down waiting for warranty repairs for something so minor. :(

If the steel line was bent and formed improperly the
bending point would be where the leak would be located.

Normally the steel line is filled with sand before it is bent
to the required path for the tractor in question.

They may be simply using a manual pipe bender
when the tractors hydraulic system is assembled
on the tractor.

Or they are using too thin steel tubing to begin with as
a proper steel hydraulic line is capable of tolerating pressures 3-4 times what
a simular hose would be capable of operating with.

UUUUGGGHHH!

I have no idea what was causing it.....the metal line has been replaced twice so far.

This tractor is really trying the patience now. The last repair took over 2 weeks as the parts needed to be ordered, the tractor hauled to the dealer, tractor repaired, and returned. It's been repaired less than one month, the tractor has been used twice for snow removal and the same metal line is blown, super udt is covering the driveway and for the fourth time this less than 2 yr old Kubota BX 1860 is heading back to the dealer for the same exact problem. To say this is disappointing would be an understatement.

I've had good luck with my RTV 500 but after seeing how this BX is turning out I'm not sure I'd consider purchasing another Kubota product myself, having a tractor that breaks down every time you need it is of no value in my opinion. Green would look nice right about now I think, paying interest on a loan would be better than the monthly repair bill on this BX.

Are any other BX owners having this same metal line rupture repeatedly?

I have a BX 2350 with 300 hours and no problem like that. I wonder if something else is causing the problem, like a bad fitting, too much pressure or something like that

Your dealer didn't get it right the first time. It simply wasn't fixed, for if they had, there wouldn't have been a second time.
Here's to hoping they get it right on the second try. Sincerely.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem with my tractor....busted and fixed 3 times so far. The dealer has been good about fixing it, but I'm near the end of my rope. I am thinking it may be damage on the male end of the fitting (thanks to some help from people here). I'm going to bring the tractor back for them to check this soon (or the next time it leaks).

FYI, I have a BX2360, purchased new in July of 2010.

ARe you sure its a busted line?? Could it be just leaking. I remember reading here somewhere that Kubota had some bad blocks and no matter how many times you replaced seals or lines it would releak until the block was replaced. Of course I may have read the post wrong. It was some time ago

At least in my case, the line (or the fitting) is leaking. Difficult to say while the fluid is hot, but once the tractor has a chance to cool, if you start it again, and use the hydraulics at all, you can see the oil oozing out from around the fitting.

The dealer in this instance is replacing the steel line, as this is the authorized Kubota fix.....
