BX 2200 won't start

My BX 2200 won't start. Had been running fine all day shut it down to talk to the neighbor when I went to restart it, it turned over once then died. Found the slow blow fuse was blown, replaced it, turned the key to start and fuse blew again.

I had the same problem with my BX2200. They replaced the solenoid (burned out) and it started 2 or 3 times before the fuse began doing the same thing again. There was a short in the wiring harness that could not be located, so the entire harness had to be replaced. All this started right after the tractor was retrofitted for my Woods backhoe. Apparently a wire somewhere was hit or stretched too much. They spent hours diagnosing before giving up and deciding that replacing the harness was cheaper than a futile search. I hope you get your resolved much more easily. Wish I could help you more, but I'm pulling for you. Best of luck!

BTW, that PDF linked above is for a BX22, not a BX2200. I don't have any idea how much is the same and how much will be different. Just wanted to point out the different model #. jnjpream may not have noticed the extra zeros. In any case, it was kind of him to put up the link.

Thanks for help, jnjpream and Tom H. The 22 and the 2200 are from the same era only difference being the backhoe I believe. I would think electrically they are the same.

Hope to get into it today. I am thinking the main switch. At times it has been finicky, I thought it had something to do with the safety switches. I would have to change the position of the PTO engaging lever and turn the key at times to get it to start. Then sometimes, I would have to keep turning the key till the starter would engage.

I forgot about the switch; mine shorted once too, and that seems to have been related to the other short in the harness. The BX2200 was introduced early in 2000. The BX22 was several years later. It is not just a BX2200 with a backhoe. The frame and hydraulics have differences, but as to the electrical system, I have no idea.
