You are good at fixing other people's projects. :)

That's my project..... But some one else's mess passed on to me ....... Didn't know much about tractors when I pruchased that one and it was my first.

Order a new crank seal and put it in as long as you have it this far apart.
Didn't think about that. I don't know if I'm going to want to wait for that seal to come in now... Might try a few local places..... If not in stock I'll just leave it be.

The front hydraulic pump stopped working a few weeks ago and found that the pump shaft, adapter and crank pulley were modified. The keyway on the shaft to the adapter had Sheard off over time causing the shaft to no longer spin. The bolts on the crank pulley had been replaced with studs and they were welded directly to the pulley. I ended up breaking one of the studs cause I didn't know they were welded in.
In the process of the repairs I have learned that the block is from a 1979 Lincoln welder. Had to go to a Perkins dealer to order a new crank pulley from England.
I don't know if the shaft was original, but the adapter they made was pieced together using a gear and a center keyway piece from tractor supply.

A Lincoln welder is a DC generator. Most likely an SA250. The AD3-152 is arguably the best diesel engine ever made. It is direct injection while the earlier A3-152 was indirect injection. Somebody went to a lot of trouble to fit it but then must have abused the crap out of the tractor. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I had to redo the alt bracket. The one that was on there came with the tractor when I bought it. It was 2 brackets welded together and it gave out pretty fast. So I made a new 1 wire gm alt bracket. Works great now!

Had the dam suction line get ripped off by a cement brick while clearing palmettos..... No idea why it was there, I'm actually going very cautiously in that area now just I case of any other suprises.... Was seeing very old rotted wood as well. Was told by a neighbor that it might be from a old railroad that ran through the area a long long time ago.
