I finally got around to replacing my 4500P's hydraulic filters and had a further problem using my new oil filter wrench on the 25 micron hydraulic filter. To explain here's the email I just sent to Ventrac:
Ventrac replied back in two hours with this:
I've attached the photos Ventrac sent...
By the way if you ever need to take your 4500 to the dealer then renting a trailer from U-Haul is a great deal. Their 5' x 9' Utility Trailer with Ramp fits the 4500 perfectly (if you have duals you’ll need to reduce down to singles (4 wheels)). Rent the trailer for 24 hours for only $25.
Now that I have the new hydraulic filters in hand, I will answer my own question so that it may help someone else with the same question. The larger 25 micron hydraulic filter has a diameter of 3 5/8” and the smaller 10 micron hydraulic filter is 2 7/8”. Luckily I ordered the correct size strap...
My 100 hour maintenance schedule is coming up and I will be changing the two hydraulic filters out myself along with the rest of the 100 hour service. I've ordered the Ventrac filters from my dealer but the parts department couldn't tell me the filter wrench sizes I'll need. Does anyone here...
Just to finish off the story on this saga… I rented a pickup truck and trailer from UHaul and took my 4500P to the dealer - 2 hours away. They found it was the parking brake microswitch and replaced it under warranty. I‘ve now put a hitch on our SUV and will rent the trailer from UHaul and pick...
If you can get over the relatively high cost of the Ventrac, I don't think you'll ever regret buying one. I am on a very sloped forested property and I have a tough cut and bucket with grapple attachments and they have both been amazing tools that I've used for many purposes.
Thanks for the tip! I just took the dealer's guy at his word and didn't realize that you had to put the range shift into neutral. I still need them to come out and fix it as I have no idea what the problem is. Just waiting to hear when they will come.
Thanks everyone for your help.
I called the dealer again today and spoke to a technician. He told me to try a few things too including to check if the parking brake is disengaging correctly.
I checked all the TCM status lights using a Mirror in the seat (thanks MountainBuck) and they all seem...
I'm not sure I understand your question? The parking brake light comes on when I engage the brake. When I disengage the brake that light turns off. When fully disengaged and I wiggle the parking brake the parking brake light comes on after a few seconds of wiggling and stalls the engine...
Thanks for the advice. I worked on the 4500P again today and could not find anything wrong with the TCM safety switches. After messing around a little with the parking brake adjustment I can drive a tractor a little but it still quickly stalls. I think I found the problem but don't know how to...
Thanks for your reply. I tried the parking brake adjustment but it didn’t help and that does not appear to be a fix for the actual parking brake switch itself. However, I realized I only ran a search on the PDF for the parking brake switch and there are in fact instructions on how to adjust the...
I read this in the manual which explains my problem perfectly:
Symptom: The engine stalls whenever the SDLA control lever is moved forward or backward out of neutral.
Possible Cause: The parking brake switch or the neutral switch is out of adjustment.
However nowhere in the manual does is tell...
