i tried a 12v cigarette lighter grease gun. after 5 zerks. i tossed it into the garbage can. and went back to the old manual one handed greaser gun. with flex hose on it.
trying to deal with cords, *shakes head no*
those stinking hoses were just a pain and took 5 times longer to mess with. (un-wind, get kinks out, unwind, get nots out, unwind some more, pull them around, plus trying find some spot to set end of hose down so grease doesn't get every were)
one hand normally holds a rag or some paper towels, with end of of the flex hose. while other pumps the grease. KISS (keep it simply stupid)
one thing that i might pay more for for a generic run of the mill grease gun, is some larger knuckles coming off the bottom end cap. so if things get greased i would be better able to grab a hold of and unloosen to reload another cartridge.
the other thing, i should do. is buy a better end that goes over the zerks. a little grease on the end of nozzle and it can be a pain to twist sometimes to remove off of zerks. be nice if the twisting action happened a few inches more away from the end of nozzle. atleast for me.
it would be nice to have a quick attach like air hoses. but smaller in diameter. so i might be able to quickly attach a longer short metal pipe between flex hose and nozzle. between tractors, and implements, trying to get into some spots a short end flex hose is nice. but sometimes a shorter straight pipe on end of a flex hose could be very nice. atleast for me.
when i start getting up into the years. i might start looking at a battery operated grease gun. hopefully by then, i will have a heated garage and will not have to worry about batteries with shorter charge due to cold temps.
