Wish I'd known I was going to buy a tractor when I put up my fence a few years back, see the attached picture. We're in the process of putting in a 150 foot "dry" creek bed next to our house to capture drainage from the slope our house is built on. Digging out about a 6" deep path, 4 foot wide, will line it with small rock, then start filling the area along both side with plants that will do well in moisture.
There are gates on each side of the small fenced area where we let our dog out, was able to reach through the gate with the backhoe and then clean out the area with the FEL from each side leaving only about a 10 foot section in the middle to dig out by hand. Used the FEL to take the dirt away. Gate is about 4 foot wide but stabilizers on the backhoe prevent me from getting all the way through-- could have removed the backhoe and just used the FEL but since it was only about 6 inches deep, did it the hard way.
Have only had the BX22 a month (22 hours of use) or so but amazing how quickly you find ways to keep the hand shovels and wheelbarrow in the garage and probably should have taken the backhoe off, good news is the weather was finally dry a few days here in northern Virginia so was able to get the project started.
