It's been so long since I got out of school, I can't remember how to solve this problem.
I can't even remember if its geometry, trigonometry or whatever. Maybe its early Alzheimer's?
Please help me find out how many square feet this is.

I usually Google it. There are lots of online calculators. I can't remember either.

Yep; I got 436 approx.

Looked it up. It a side (30') plus b side (10') divided by 2 times the height. We don't know height and there's not enough info to determine.

It's 520 sq. ft. The distance between the 2 parallel pieces is the sq. rt of 24x24 + 10x10 = 26 (Pythagorean theory). Then 26x10 (2 triangles) + 26x10 (rectangle).

Two rt angle triangles plus a rectangle in between.

I used to know all that stuff (always got A's) but got into a profession where it never got used (I still did a lot of algebra though). Decades later I now do a lot of woodworking and wished I could revive the geometry/trig.

Maybe my numbers are wrong but I get 480 sq ft. I do simple math. 30 x 24 =720. 24 x 10 (the two right triangle together) = 240. 720 - 240 =480 AM I wrong????

Ralph, you are correct if the sides are parallel and the right triangles are equal. Well now that I think about it not sure that have to be equal.
