Sounds like you got a mower deck problem. Your not using mulching blades are you. Also are the exhaust vents on the vac units open and flowing air. I have a Cyclone rake and that thing does a super good job of sucking up leave and grass clipping plus walnuts and hickory nuts that go thru the mower.

Why don't you just take the old one out of the tractor and see what the temp is marked on the thermostat and replace it with the same temperature thermostat.

There should be a seal on the rear of the pump where the tach cable attaches. There should be no oil coming out of rear of the pump even with the tack cable unhooked.
