Tractor Link Lift Leveling Box Assembly for 4310?

I have a hard-working 4310 hydro and I need to replace the twist-screw style leveler that's on the right side (when seated), and ideally I want one on each side. I would love a fancier hydraulic system but that's not in budget for me right now. Suggestions? Suggestions of what I need to...

Suddenly increasing leak around hydraulic filter

Okay - so... no idea why it suddenly started leaking. Replaced filter the typical way, no leaks, no drips, no problems. Weird, but ok.

Interesting - tracking down a hydraulic flow diagram. Hopefully one in this very poorly cared for manual.

Suddenly increasing leak around hydraulic filter

I will be sure to keep that in mind. I've replaced the suction side filter, and oil filters on various vehicles for decades and never a leak. Maybe this one is clogged and I can't see it and the pressure is building up? No idea. I do hope this works.

Suddenly increasing leak around hydraulic filter

Thanks for the reply. There are two replaceable hydraulic filters. One BIG one is on the suction side, and it's out of harms way (mostly) and not leaking. The other one, the one that is leaking, is under a skid plate and is pretty hard to hit. I did just go for it and removed the filter that...

Suddenly increasing leak around hydraulic filter

We've suddenly had an increasing leak around the hydraulic filter underneath the skid plate under the tractor (JD4310). I tried snugging up the filter, and first time there was a tiny bit of give, but today there's not more torque I can give it. So here's the question: Is it just the seal...

    420 Replacement mower deck?

Bought this lovely JD 420, and while the motor is running great, the mower deck has been worked on to the point that it's a giant hassle: One front wheel axle welded on at an angle and the plastic wheel gets destroyed very quickly 1-2 hours. Belt jumping off, other wheel problems. The...

    Quick Disconnect or Collar lock

I am needing to replace the driveline shaft I use with my 13KW generator. I see online types that have the push-pin quick disconnect, and those that have the collar push-to-connect types. Any thoughts or opinions of one or the other? The entire purpose of the generator is to be readily...

Cant separate 2-spline PTO shaft in order to cut it

I have a generator with a PTO shaft that is about 4 inches too long. To get it on/off the tractor is brutal, and extra problematic when you're trying to do it in bad weather. I have the plastic collars popped off the shaft covers, but I cannot see what is preventing the 2 halves from sliding...

Tires  JD 4310 CUT Aftermarket wheels and tires?

Is there anything preventing me from switching from the wider rims and tires to the Ag R1 sizes? 7.00-14 (4WD) 11.2-24 source: TractorData.com John Deere 431 tractor dimensions information When I bought this as a noob, I didn't realize how much traction was going to be a factor living in the...

    JD 420 Cranks, won't start

So yesterday I did some mowing, and pulling a wagon up the hill with some firewood, and on the last task & firewood trip I turned the key and just heard the starter motor whirring away, but not engaged whatsoever. It's a new battery, and the machine was running just fine moments before. I left...

    JD 4310 Overheating

My tractor dash temperature gauge keeps climbing up to the red, and beyond (!) What I've tried so far: 1. Replaced the oil (no milkshake, no glitter), it was due but not way overdue. Replaced the radiator fluid, it was due. Probably overdue. From a cold morning start on new fluids, it gets...

    Cougars in Yamhill County, Oregon

There's been cougars around forever around here, but right now we have a problem cougar. A combination of the ban on hunting cougars with dogs in Oregon, cougar population explosion, and more human contact than normal has resulted in what we have today: A tom cougar that doesn't follow the...

    Pipe connectors for carport?

Has anyone been able to find a source for 2" steel pipe connectors for the purposes of making a carport etc? Tires  Diff wheels and tires for 4310?

The rainy season is coming and I have been increasingly curious about what would be required for me to swap wheels and tires for something with more traction. I have the big and wide R4s and frankly they just don't cut it with my steep hillsides. It's great that they don't tear up the ground...

BEST way to set up a long water main?

I am going to be replacing my rapidly failing water main that is roughly 600 feet long and rises about 60-80 feet. Currently it is extremely thin PVC (thinner than SCH20). I am leaning toward SCH80 1.5" or perhaps even 2" since the pump exit is 2". I would buy 20' bell-ended pieces...

I\'m might to have to shoot my pal (dog) :( I am on vacation, and my sister and neighbors are watching the place. A barn cat and a sheep were attacked and killed. All signs point to the culprit being my own shar-pei/lab mix dog that has been a good friend and guard dog for many years. He has...

Cougars and Coyotes and Wolves OH MY!

    Water main broke...again.

The pump was cycling on every 10 seconds night before last. It was too late to go out and try and figure it out. It started at around midnight and my judgement was shot + very sleepy = stayed in bed. It stopped for a bit (or seemed to) but woke me at 2:30am to hear it thumping the pipes at 10...

    MC Cable question

And no, this is not about rap music. I am putting up lights in our roughly 20x40 hay loft, and am using 3/8" aluminum metal clad 12/2 cable. Everthing is going pretty well EXCEPT for jamming in the connectors that let me attach the cable to electrical boxes. I have the specal splitter tool...

    T post connectors? Sources? Kinds?

The local farm supply has these T-post connectors, but they pretty spendy. They are $1.99 a piece, and it takes 3 pieces to do 1 angle. So for each brace, its $12 not including the brace itself! So basically, I am looking to either be able to buy those thing in bulk much cheaper, or get...

How to feed the dog, but not the sheep?

    why won't it start?

why won\'t it start? A good friend's Ford tractor won't start. We ran it out of fuel (diesel), and now it won't turn over? The only thing I can think of is that maybe the PTO is still engaged. Anything special about diesels that make them have issues if run dry? (don't know the model, but...
