Ford 1710 (and others) Hydraulic Power Beyond Adapter Plate

You can tie in as many open center valves as you want, provided they are all in series. So the oil flows out of the adapter block and must flow back into it in one circuit. I need to machine some more of them so it may be a few weeks, but I'll let you know.

Ford 1710 (and others) Hydraulic Power Beyond Adapter Plate

Interesting...that makes sense, I've just never seen it before. The power beyond block I make for the draft control models should fit between the priority valve and relief valve.

Ford 1710 (and others) Hydraulic Power Beyond Adapter Plate

I've never seen that middle block in your first three pics. Guessing it's SML28859, see picture from CNH parts catalog. Where do the two steel lines coming out from it run to? The second set of 3 pics you attached are from the 1710 parts tractor? You may or may not need to use that adapter...

Ford 1710 (and others) Hydraulic Power Beyond Adapter Plate

Can you post a picture of the block you’re talking about? I may have a 1700 w/draft control adapter block on the shelf from a batch I machined. I’ll check.

Yep, still make them. I just responded to your PM. Thanks, Ted

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

Yes, but you have to make sure that the valve on the splitter is open center. You also have to loop the adapter plate outlet to the inlet when the splitter is removed from the tractor or it will block the hydraulic flow to the rest of the tractor. The picture below is an installation diagram...

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

Sorry, I think I was wrong on my initial response. I think you actually need a power beyond adapter plate. There is one on eBay that fits the 20 series tractors. New Tractor Hydraulic Adapter Plate made to fit Ford 1320 1520 1720 1920 2120 | eBay

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

IDIdiesel, that looks like a power beyond setup, not rear remote. You should be fine to run a log splitter assuming that there is a valve directly on the splitter. I’m not super familiar with the 2120s though so maybe other members have a similar setup and can explain how to get hydraulic flow...

    Ford 1710 Rear Remote Valve

Yep, go ahead and send me a PM. I don't think you actually need the remote valve kit, just the power beyond adapter. I have a few of those machined and ready to go as well. https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/threads/ford-1710-and-others-hydraulic-power-beyond-adapter-plate.424261/

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

It's easiest to just send me a PM and we can work out the details. Hoping to get a website going at some point.

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

Since I don't have a 1720 to put my own kit on, I don't have any pics of the kit with the new levers. I've sold a couple kits in the last few weeks, so hoping I can get a picture from one installed soon.
  13. tedward4

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

Actually, maybe I'm not right. Are you able to use both the loader and the 3pt at the same time, or do you have to turn the screw on the block like the manual hints at? Any 1720 owners know the answer?
  14. tedward4

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

This block? That's the diverter/relief block. If your loader is plumbed into that then the remote kit would work fine. The remote kit uses the hydraulic flow between that block and the 3pt system.

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

Sorry for the delay. Yep, ready to order. But keep in mind that the handles may need to go through a revision before getting them to fit perfectly. Send me a PM if interested.

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

The kit with a single valve, adapters, orings, and handle is $500. The dual valve kit is $650. The kit isn't too hard to install, see the pic below. The 4 orings closest to the tractor are 20.4mm OD x 2.4mm wide, a standard -114 oring is close and will work.

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

I finally got a batch of adapters machined and the prototype 1720 handle set completed. I think the handles turned out nicely, just a matter of whether they fit correctly or not.

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

UPDATE: I've been working through a pretty large backlog on both CNC machines, and have a bunch of urgent engineering consulting/design to get done. But, I've made progress on the adapters and handles. I made a few updates to the adapter to make the oring installation easier, and also have a...

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

I use the Prince SV series valves. There is a solenoid version, but it adds about $350 to the cost of each valve. The other downside of the solenoid valves it that they aren't proportional, so flip the switch and it's full on. You'd lose the ability to feather the valve.

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

The sectional valve itself is designed to be stacked 1-10 units. Space will be the limiting factor on the tractor. The 1710 and 1720 comfortably fits 2, not sure about 3 or more before they run into the fender.

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

Yeah I think this should fit quite a few models. I looked up the cover plate (SBA344881130) and it looks to fit ~80 models. The handle location may be different, but the rest should fit fine. When I originally developed the adapter for the 1710 it was easy since I have the tractor to...

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

Update... A fellow TNB member, SJ83, was able to install and test out the adapter setup. He actually tested out the dual valve setup. See some of the pictures of his install below. Since the install was successful and works as expected, I'll start to machine the kits and get them ready for...

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

I finished up the adapter prototype but I forgot to post to this thread. I had originally posted this to my 1710 rear remote thread where there were questions about a 1720 kit. Copied info below: Sorry for the delay (recent job change so have been super busy) but I've finally finished...

    Ford 1710 Rear Remote Valve

You're correct on the clearance being only a few inches. I'm guessing that's why the OEM valve is using banjo style fittings rather than 90° ones. I did snap a picture of the 1720 by me that has the remove valve.

    Ford 1710 Rear Remote Valve

Sorry for the delay (recent job change so have been super busy) but I've finally finished designing the 1720 remote valve adapter and machined the first prototype set. I still need to work out the valve handle since it needs to sneak through the 1720 sheet metal into the operator area. The...

Ford 1710 (and others) Hydraulic Power Beyond Adapter Plate

Hi Nick, That looks like a 1700 with draft control. It should have 2 levers for the three point. I have machined an adapter for a 1910 with draft control (see picture) which looks like the same shape and bolt pattern as your 1700. The only issue is that the 1910 has the relief valve upstream...

    Ford 1710 Rear Remote Valve

Paul, I'm working on designing an adapter for the 1720. The 1710 one won't fit the 1720. I don't have an ETA on the adapter yet though so you might have to keep bugging me to get working on it :)

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

I've got a design 90% complete in CAD so just need to finish that up and then machine a prototype. I recently had a job change so this got delayed a bit. Hoping to get back to working on it soon!

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

Adamn, I'm still looking for someone to take a few pics of the 1620 sheet metal and below the seat on right side. Let me know if you can help out.

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

If you wanted to send me a few pics of the right side below the seat where the valve attaches and the sheet metal where the three point levers pass through to the operator area that would be helpful. I think the 20 series tractors have more sheet metal panels than the 10 series so may have to...

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

I've started to design the adapter block that the valve mounts to so am making progress on the kit. Once I machine a prototype, I'll be looking for someone to test it out on a tractor. I'm not sure the guy that owns the 1720 nearby will let me mess around with his tractor.

Ford New Holland 1720 (and others) Rear Remote Valve

Hi All, I'm trying to gauge interest on people looking to add a rear remove valve(s) to the 1720. I've been making a kit for the 1710 (see picture) but have come across a few people looking for a kit for the 1720. This would be a replacement for part number SBA340002301, which I think is NLA...

Ford 1710 Broken Steering Sector Gear Shaft

Wondering if anyone else has had this failure on their 1710: You can see from the picture that the cracks propagated from the spline roots. I mostly use the tractor with the loader so there's a little more load on the steering shaft than with no loader. It looks like the replacement part...

    Ford 1710 Rear Remote Valve

Here's a quick look at the rear valve I added to my 1710. New Holland parts shows that the remote kit for this model is no longer available so I had to come up with a custom solution. I see a few places sell an adapter plate to tap into the three point lift hydraulics, but it's only an in/out...

    Ford LGT 14D

Hi All, I just purchased this Ford LGT 14D locally on Craigslist. Previous owner said it ran super well and then one day it wouldn't start. Turned out to be a corroded battery terminal connection. There are no leaks on the machine and the deck is in great shape. I never thought I'd have a...

    Loader Ford 770B Loader Stands

I've got the 770B on a 1710 tractor with the 1 lever remote valve that's mounted onto the loader frame, so that's what I'm familiar with. On the 1710 hydraulic system, the loader is plumbed into the relief valve/diverter valve manifold (see picture). Just disconnect the quick couplers and turn...

    Ford 1710 FWD Driveshaft Issue

I thought I'd post this and see if anyone else had a similar failure. The MFWD quit working a few months ago and I finally got to fixing it. On the 1710, the front drive shaft is splined on either end with a coupler on each end (one coupler on the transmission output and one on the front axle...

    Ford 1710 Bad Pilot Bearing

The clutch on the left is actually the pto clutch. I was surprised that the transmission clutch had friction pucks...wonder if it's oem or aftermarket. Before loosening the 6 screws that hold the clutch assembly to the flywheel, I removed the 3 pivot pins. With the release levers free, I then...

    Ford 1710 Bad Pilot Bearing

Hi JC, Nope, didn't put a new clutch in. There was about 0.030" left until the service limit so I figured I'd hold off. I did disassemble the clutch and clean it up...there was quite a bit of caked on dust and grime, but the frictions and faces looked pretty evenly worn. Also, when I bought...

    Loader  Ford 770B Loader Stands

I recently purchased a 1710 w/770B loader. A bad pilot bearing required me to remove the loader before splitting the tractor, and I realized having the stands would come in handy. The pics show my attempt to copy the oe-looking loader stands. The nice part is that the stands stow in the...
