I would say it is probably too much tiller for that tractor. I think a 48" is more the right size for a 25hp (remembering that your 25hp tractor does not have 25 hp rating for the PTO). You might get away with a 60", but in ground that's never been roto-tilled, it would be under-powered, IMO.

Bill, I agree about the cause of white smoke, but I also have seen air filters where the pleated filter material had ruptured and allowed dirt into the diesel (referred as "dusting the engine". For the price of an air filter, I would not be trying to save a buck and re-use one that is how old?

"Jiffy" is an official measurement of time. Long ago it was 1/60th of a second, or 1/50th depending on which continent you were from, but later an international agreement made it 1/100th of a second.
