Tractor Sizing TRACTOR WEIGHT as ONE (1) CRITERION in TRACTOR SELECTION

I have been running my Mahindra 1626 for a year and a half now and have not yet found occasion to wish for more weight. In hindsight, I probably could have gotten away with a subcompact. The sub would have been a benefit in the tighter turns in my walking paths.

“Buy the dealer, not the machine” is outdated

Once I had my short list and prices were all comparable, I bought the dealer, and that proved to be a good decision. The tractor has been back twice. One of the items that could have been an operator error was warrantied becuase the dealer went to bat for me.

    Pat's Quick Hitch Pointers

Hi folks. It's your resident n00b again. I hate being the n00b asking all the new guy questions, but I am the new guy and I do have questions. Thanks for suffering/indulging my ignorance. On the recommendation of quite a few folks here I ordered Pats Quick Hitch. I later learned that...

    Safety Tips For Beginners

I just bought my first tractor. I have never operated a tractor before. I am a safety professional by trade and want to learn as much as I can about safety before I get started. I read the safety literature that came with the tractor. I'll read it again. Center of gravity is an obvious...

New 1626 HST Owner, Any Others?

Hi folks I bought my first tractor today. It's a Mahindra 1626 HST with FEL. Being my first tractor, I thought I'd see how many of us 1626 owners there are. I suspect I'll end up with a lot of questions.

    Decision Day Tomorrow

I have done a significant amount of internet exploration and have visited a number of dealers just to lay eyes on things. I narrowed the field down to the most attractive candidates and negotiated prices with dealers. I have a short (or somewhat short) list of finalists. Tomorrow I will visit...

Tractor Sizing TRACTOR WEIGHT as ONE (1) CRITERION in TRACTOR SELECTION

Just to give you an idea of the root base I am dealing with, this pic shows what was cleared out in the areas I need to work. I did have a bud come through with his big Kubota and work quite a bit of the roots out already. There's not a Massey Dealer anywhere near me that has decent stock...

Tractor Sizing TRACTOR WEIGHT as ONE (1) CRITERION in TRACTOR SELECTION

I think I covered all the ground in this thread. https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/owning-operating/415823-new-member-implement-questions-post5497214.html?highlight=#post5497214 I am wide open on what I am considering. The front runners just happened to be orange. Today a Yanmar took the...

Tractor Sizing TRACTOR WEIGHT as ONE (1) CRITERION in TRACTOR SELECTION

To tie those two machines in with the weight thread here, and to explain why I am trying to get the importance of weight sorted out, the Kubota is just about the lightest in its class and the Kioti is far and away the heaviest at about 600 pounds heavier.

Tractor Sizing TRACTOR WEIGHT as ONE (1) CRITERION in TRACTOR SELECTION

Jeff would be much more influential if he would substantiate his assertions. He became petulant when I asked him to. While I am new to this forum, I am far from being new to internet forums. Every forum has their version of Jeff. Experienced, highly opinionated, unnecessarily defensive and...

Tractor Sizing TRACTOR WEIGHT as ONE (1) CRITERION in TRACTOR SELECTION

This one is not a good video in that it's at some kind of fast motion, but it does show the tires spinning as the operator sticks the bucket into a load. So that illustrates how weight can make a difference. kioti ck261 clearing land part 2 - YouTube

Tractor Sizing TRACTOR WEIGHT as ONE (1) CRITERION in TRACTOR SELECTION

This was actually a pretty good video. I am going to continue to watch some. Thanks for the recommendation. #122 Why Would You Buy a Kubota B261 Compact Tractor? - YouTube

Tractor Sizing TRACTOR WEIGHT as ONE (1) CRITERION in TRACTOR SELECTION

My apologies for a reply that may have come off as curt. I am grateful for the well thought out post you provided. My attention was divided while I was reading it and rather than wait and respond in full, I fired off a quick response to let you know I had read it and would follow your suggestion.

Tractor Sizing TRACTOR WEIGHT as ONE (1) CRITERION in TRACTOR SELECTION

I am targeting small compacts like the Kubota B2601 or compacts in the Kioti CK2610 size. I'll see if I can find some videos of them working.

Tractor Sizing TRACTOR WEIGHT as ONE (1) CRITERION in TRACTOR SELECTION

Jeff, I am a neophyte and frankly there's nothing stimulative about it. For your application you found larger tractors sufficiently more efficient than smaller ones to make it worth the extra expense. It's obvious you spend quite a bit of time trying to influence readers here. Your posts would...

    3 PT Lift Questions

I am the new guy with lots of questions. I have done a good bit of reading and am still uncertain of the answer to several questions. Why does 3 point hitch lift capacity matter? Aren't most implements that are chosen to size out well with a tractor well within the lift rating of the 3 PT...

    Things Are Looking Orange

I mentioned in a previous thread that I have 10 acres in South MS that I will need to tend. As of right now I have a 20x300 driveway that has been cut out. I'll need to have some gravel brought in so that I can make a proper driveway out of it. I have about an acre cleared that will be the...

    New Member With Implement Questions

Hi folks. Great forum and great group of members here. I have been reading fairly extensively here over the past several days and have been learning quite a bit. My newbie questions are going to be about implements rather than what tractor to buy. I am slowly closing in on the right tractor...
