Welcome to the continuing story of my tractor purchase. For those of you jumping over from my previous thread, "M-Series Snag!!!", you probably are aware of much of the story of my tractor shopping and purchase. For anyone's benefit that cares to know I have summarized my overall tractor purchase below in this word document. I must warn you, it's a 6 page document. But it is some interesting reading! For those of you who don't give a crap I won't be offended if you just start looking at the pictures.

I must say, it's good to be a tractor owner!:D I haven't had much time to enjoy it yet though. I will have to schedule a vacation to have a solid week to have fun with my tractor. It is one very sweet ride. But now I'm starting to think about implements! There are so many implements that I've decided I'd like to get. Oh well, I'll just enjoy the FEL for now!;) That's about all I've been doing. I'll get home after dark and just drive around in the pasture. I have dug up some random patches of turf in the pasture only to lay them back down and backdrag over them. It sure is fun!! I'm so happy I just can't stand it.:D

Here are the pictures. Sorry they're at night. I haven't been home before dark.:( I'll post some good daylight pictures soon!!

Congratulations. It looks great. I really like those rear wheels. I wish my dealer had mentioned those to me. Enjoy your new tractor, good luck and be careful.

Glowplug lists a bunch of implements he wants including a grapple. I want to add my 2 cents to the grapple topic.

I recently purchased a grapple from Borgford Manufacturing (BoDozer) and want to pass on my experience that: 1. Dale Borgford was an extremely nice and easy person to deal with directly 2. The unit itself is fantastic.

I just got the unit on my tractor (L5030) earlier in the week and yesterday was my first opportunity to put it to work. I was consolidating brush piles in order to burn, and was pulling downed trees from my woods.

The grapple is terrific and I think it will get used a lot. I looked at many grapple options, including Westendorf, AnBo, Erskine, and bunches on Ebay. I'm quite happy with the decision to buy the BoDozer.

BTW, have fun on the new tractor Chuck.

Rick

I CANNOT BELIEVE you failed to obtain a CAB TRACTOR!!!!!!!!

Oh come on now! That would be over the top!;) :D

I don't know about the Cab thing, Maybe if I was a landscaper and spent 8 hours a day on my tractor cutting or plowing fields it might be appealing. I look at the cost of a cab as several implements or 1 complex implement. I am on and off my tractor all the time when I use it and a cab would be a nuisance. I agree in a plow field in the summer and snow removal in the winter it has its appeal. I think when you make a purchase some times 2 grand puts you in the next tractor up. Let face it the tractor is the important part. The implements are add ons. We all work within are personal budget and the luxury of a cab more often gives way to a more practical purchase

Mower's on the way. I'm trying to decide on a grapple. Still leaning toward Millonzi but those Borgford grapples look really nice. Probably a lot more expensive though. I will be getting a toothbar. But let me tell you, that thing has some powerful digging capability without one. I don't know if I'll get one soon or wait until spring just in case it snows. I'm planning on getting the Markham welding toothbar. I'll tell you what, the price I was quoted on a 72" toothbar as opposed to an 84" toothbar when I was considering the m8540 is a very dramatic difference. It's much cheaper. Now my father-in-law wants me to get a rototiller because he has a garden at my place. And yes, I have been hanging out in the implements forum more.

It's pouring down rain today.:( It's supposed to rain all weekend then maybe turn to snow. This is very annoying. I got my tractor, then was working until 7 or 8pm every night, and now it's raining. I guess I could get it out of the barn and go 4-wheeling in the mud.

Thanks Wayne. Me too! I may have to go just gaze at it in the barn since the pasture is now a mud field with more rain coming down.

Chuck, shouldn't you have changed your avatar by now??? :D

Chuck, have you waxed your new baby yet? Hey, let us know how that tiller thing goes. I've got a line on a used 96" John Deere tiller, but I have no use for it at this time. But I still want it, whats wrong with me? Your tractor sure looks nice. I hope that you get half of the chores done with it that you have thought of. You will be one happy camper.

Good luck

That's a good point! I'm holding out 'til I can get some good daylight non-raining photos.

Nah, haven't waxed it yet. But if it keeps raining and I can't play with her I may have to go wax her in the barn. I've got a sneakin' feelin' I may be purchasing a tiller in a couple of months. I would like to get an 80" or 90" Howard. I'll keep you posted. But there are so many implements I'd like to get that I just can't stand it. I definately want a grapple very soon. But then I think I'd like a sprayer and a seeder to get the pasture in shape. Then if I do that I have to get a disk harrow and drag harrow. The only things that I would probably really put on the back burner would be snow plow, 3 bottom plow, and subsoiler. But then what if it snows or I "have" to expand the garden?!? I don't know, I may have to get a part-time second job to pay for these implements. Maybe someone will hire me to just drive around in circles on their property.:D

Hey, now that's an idea! My wife is out of town this weekend and I'm on call. She was kinda relieved that it has been raining and is going to continue for at least another day or so. She figures that'll keep me out of trouble on my tractor. But hey, there's all that mud out there that needs rearranging! That's a great excuse! Good test for the 4wd too!!:D
