Not 4 wheel drive,

As john deere claims the new 500 series garden tractors are, at the most they are 3 wheel drive with the difflock pressed.
I really want to like JD again but I think Kubota is smokin em.

How many 4wd trucks do you think are actually 4wd?? Wouldn't you have a hard time turning if the diff. doesn't slip?

Kubota's 4 wheel drive is contsant drive to the front wheels
at all turning radious

If your inside wheel is turning at the same speed as the outside wheel does it tear up your turf ?

Yes, they do have a constant drive to the front wheels, but they also have a open differential in the center of the front axle. The open differential will allow the wheel with the least traction to spin by its self.

Thank you Jerry, although I don't know how the Kubota system is set up, I would have to assume that it is like most other systems. You can have driveline power to the front diff., but if the axles are locked together in the diff., (true 4wd) every time you turn you would chew something up.

You would also have much higher tire wear and drive line stress.

For what Kubota tractor is this true of? Mine does not have a front locking differential nor are there any claims by Kubota that it does. Just curious about the model.
