10' Kodiak? rotary cutter (Bush Hog) gear oil leak

Hey 5030, where do I get cornhead grease? And won't the gears just throw it to the side of the box and therefore not lubricate after a while?

It thins out during use and then gets thick when you stop. I have it in both of my cutters. You can pick a couple of tubes up at your John Deere dealer for about ten bucks.

We use cotton spindle grease here, wonder if it's the same as corn head grease?

Thanks to all you who tried to help. Just an update....I replaced both seals and it still leaks but barely. I'm going to invest in some Corn Head grease next.

Also, guess what?? I found out what brand it is. I was in Tractor Supply and happened to be looking at their hydraulic cylinders when I noticed the standing bear image that is on my bush hog!! It is a brand that Tractor Supply carries call "Grizzly"! funny thing is, I asked 2 different Managers if they knew what brand it was and even showed them the image and they didn't have a clue!
