Here I go again:D I would think twice about the Kaufman for your use. It has a 6" channel main frame behind the axles. An excavator will plant every pound on the tail as you breakover. If you add some stabilizers or blocks you will probably be fine. Wheeled vehicles divide that weight in about half. For comparison, my Load Max 14k has 8" channel aft of the axles.

What exactly is your new truck? Where did you get the 2820 number? My '21 2500 is only 2259. We need a picture!

Truck is a 2019 4x2 Big Horn with a Crew Cab. The table shows the Tradesman but not the Big Horn but they should weigh the same. I'm going to take the truck and have it weighed, that's the only way I'll know what the payload actually is but I'm working with 2820 at this point for my trailer selection.

There should be a label on the door jamb that tells you the payload for you actual truck. They have been required by federal regulation since 2005. It should look something like this. It will state "The combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed" The numbers listed are your max payload.

If I’m reading correctly, I see a 10” frame and 6” outer frame

I recently bought a 26’ 16k gooseneck with a tilt deck.

It’s got a wireless remote, so I can drive my equipment to the back up the trailer, hit a button to tilt the deck, drive up the trailer, hit a button and lower the deck.

Chain her down and gone. No more wrestling with the ramps.

Easy peasy.

What brand? How much does the trailer weigh empty? Thanks!

IMO if you are buying a deckover gooseneck go ahead and get the 10k axles and give yourself some room for expansion, I have a 25+5 gatormade pierced frame deckover gooseneck with 2-10k axles with 17.5 super singles and I really like it verses the dual tandems, the only downfall of my trailer IMO is that it is heavy, probably overbuilt which cuts down on payload, also as someone said these new tilt deck trailers are really nice for loading and unloading construction equipment daily, I have been looking at the kaufman with 8k axles myself. good luck.
