i am looking at tradeing a 1440v masseyferguson to a 1540 m.f...the 1440v has about 600 hrs.well taken care of.with a loader..my dealer is only offering 10000 in trade ...thats just not enough....but i may be wrong...we always think our stuff is worth more than it is .. iam looking at a 1540 power shuttle with loader r4s... around 22500.....any thoughts ??? thanks for your time bruce

Doesn't the 1440v have the same specs, aside from the transmission, as the 1540? That's a lot of money to spend on essentially the same tractor. 600 hours is not a lot of time on a diesel tractor. What is your reason for needing a new tractor? Perhaps you can use the extra 12,500 for another piece of equipment to do what you want.

the 1540 has a power shuttle ..plus it has more of a creeper gear for tilling ..and the increased hydraluic flow and more lifting capacity....i have never been happy compleatly with the 1440v... i traded a 1250 with a 16x16 trans for it .i really miss some of the gears ..thanks for the reply bruce

Your 1440 would be worth a lot more arouind here, I'd say ~$14k. I think the price on the 1540 sound a little high. Just my opinion. BTW, I like the 16x16, I have one in my 1240.

I don't have the site address right now, but maybe an other member will post where the site is that gives tractor prices. There are two sites that give prices for used tractors. I will say that I don't think that your dealer is giving you enough at 10k, unless there is something that we are not taking into consideration. You will love the 16 speed, as you know from having one before, even though the gear ratios are different on the PowerShuttle transmission than they were on your 1250.

You can go to Machine Finder and search for tractors in your category. This might help you figure out what it's worth.

Bruce, just a thought, but you may be able to get the info you need by contacting your lending institution or insurance company for loan value as an idea.
