1962 John Deere 2010 3 point not working right

I attached a bush hog to my 2010 to check it out. The PTO engaged just fine no problems there, but the 3 point hitch stopped working. It would not go up or down with the lever by the seat, my control is not on the dash. That was a week ago yesterday I went out and tried it again and the 3 point hitch slowly went all the way up. Is this just in need of a new filter and oil or is there a deeper issue?

No, I bought a new filter and 2 pails of Hy-guard so I can do the fluid change. Is the filter the screen?

No its on the side of the tranny housing . Let me see if I can find a tutorial for you ,

Thanks tried looking at that but it is unavailable. Bought a shop book, but I think that I know the cover you are talking about on the side of the transmission.

Ditto 2010 & 2020 hyd filters will not interchange. In fact 2010 has a screen that can be cleaned but 2020 filter must be changed if dirty. 2010 screen is accessed on RH side under operators platform.

Well removed and replaced the hydraulic filter/screen. Drained and changed the oil. The old oil was dark brown in color. Filled it back up with new oil and tested the system works a lot better now. 3 point hitch goes up smoothly , but I have to push it down by hand. Hooked up my bush hog to the tractor and the PTO stopped working I will start a new thread for that problem. Thank you for your help.

That is normal.. no down pressure on the 3 ph arms.
