Buying Advice 2 speed rear PTO

   / 2 speed rear PTO #21
Its just that i have never seen a 1000pto speed empliment. ?? can you just run a bush hog normaly rated at 540 and then turn it up to 1000?
In some situations it is advantageous to go above 540 with a 540 implement. Not so much as anywhere near 1000 on most. Here is a seat of the pants impression of max overspeeds to deal with special conditions:
@ Bushog -- 650
@ Haybine -- 650
@ Tiller -- 750
@ Flail -- 650
@ Pump -- 700-1000 dependent on type and intake head
@ Chipper -- 700
@ Manure spreader -- 700
@ Tedder -- 700
@ Snow Thrower -- 750
@ Blower -- 750

I would like to see 3 PTO speeds to enable good engine power available at a choosen output speed. 540, 800, 1000 seems to cover it.:confused3:

just have to look inthe right place. once you get implements needing over 80-90 hp.. you see them go to the finer splines 1000 rpm pto setups.

ie.. go shopping for a 15' batwing mower.. you will see both 540 6 spline pto, and the differennt fine splines 1000 rpm shafts.. get to 20', and the 540 rpm pro models will be harder to find.
