Hi,

I can't for the life of me find the owner's manual for my LK3054 and I don't know what oil to get for this weekend's oil change. Anyone out there who can tell me what weight and specification of oil to get? What does your manual say?

The tractor can expect heavy use snow blowing this winter, so it will be operating in temperatures down to the single digits F while powering the six-foot 3PH snow blower.

Thank you! :)

I've used Rotella synthetic since new; now using their T6 5/40 in my 2004 3054xs. Still starts mean when cold. Mine is hooked to a Blizzard B74 blower. The spec's in the manual are of questionable value, as is the manual itself.

Thanks! These are both helpful replies.

Agreed on the value of that manual. Better than nothing though, I suppose.

For what it's worth, I run 15w40 in my tractor, skidsteer, and zero turn. That's what the manual calls for.

the skidsteer and tractor start fine in sub zero temps; just let them warm up for awhile.

never tried to start the zero turn in sub zero temps though.........

Can't go wrong with the Rotella 5w-40, good suggestion in my opinion.

I'm in northern N.H. and I use 15W40 year round in mine. No problems in the 15 or so years I've had it.

15w40 really isn't recommended for temperatures nearing the single digits. If it were the only oil available (like in the old days), sure. Why not. The choice would then be 15w40 or baby oil.

But when you've got sooper-hi-tech synthetics that are 5w-40, then ......... Why? Why would you want to run oil that was spec'ed for diesels in 1959??

my 2005 DK 45 suggests 10w 40 for sub zero operation. I live in Eastern Canada and have used 15w 40 for the last several years. I didn't realize that 10w 40 was recommended until this year. The tractor is an excellent starting tractor but I will be putting the thinner oil in this year. I have no block heater and we get down to -20 C or colder.
