John 4105,
Conbrats on your new JD, beautiful tractor that you'll have a blast playing er working with. Don't second guess your self on your choice, as long as your happy with your tractor that's all that matters.

Deere site says #46 backhoe fits 2320,2520,2720 ? is there something else that makes this not fit ? When I had them at the dealer 2320 and 2520 side by side the 2320 was a couple of inches longer. But that may have been overall length , I think 2520 had 2 inch longer wheelbase at tires.

What year was your 2520? maybe they changed something on the chassis since then.
My salesman lives down the road i'll ask him today if I see him about the 46 backhoe
The frames that are used to attach it to the tractor are different, BH itself is the same.

My 2320 has a fuel gauge right on the dash , it might be something new since you had your 2320. But I did look it up in my new technical manual and yes the 2320 does have self priming fuel system. again, this may be something new since you had yours.

2320 has geared final axle also, just not offset like the 2520. The dealer is the one that brought that to my attention. Like he was telling me to quit second guessing the engineers that design these tractors. No matter which one I buy they are all top notch. I really liked the 2305, but sold out of new.

I was approved for a 3320 but my neighbor told me to stay away from the electronic transmission hydro and get a 4105 like he has. but the 4105 is too big for what i need . Even the 3320 is too big in physical size for where I will be using (does me no good if I can't use it)

I may be a first time tractor buyer but as I was sitting on the 4105 and the 3320 the wife reminded me neither one of those would be able to get in the back of the house (we have rock bluffs right up next to the house) so it would be useless to buy something so big that we could not use it for what we were buying it for!!! Money or cost was not the factor in purchasing, it was function for what "I" needed. So I either move the house, move the rock bluffs, or buy a tractor that I can actually use!

And no I did not buy the 2320 because the wife thought it was cute, I bought it because of she liked the cup holder.

I want to wish you the best of luck with the new tractor and I truly respect your judgment and purchase. I'm not trying to beat it down, the 2320 is a very good machine. The point I'm making is that the 2520 is not just a couple of HP more, it's a different machine.

As far as staying away from the 3x20, 4x20, etc. because it's electronic. Your neighbor is completely wrong. Electronics is my field and I know it well. I program embedded microcontrollers and every car on the road produced in the last 20 years has them in it from the fuel regulation systems to the dimming dome light. Did your neighbor tell you to avoid your family car because it has an electronic fuel or transmission monitoring system?
Electronics rarely fails, look around here for the number of people who have had problems with the electronics on tractors from large combines to the ehydro. The things that fail, just like your old VCR, are mechanical, belts mechanical mechanisms etc. That's why MP3 and solid state hard drives are taking over. Electronics is just better. I have had designs go out in the hundreds without one electronic failure.
People love the electronic trannys for a good reason. Put me on that list.

I would think bigger is always better. The added valve of the machine will only add up to be a small amount of money over the long haul. I sold about J.D. 700 tractors in tens years and some of the customers wished they had bought more. Remember you only live once...

When I bought my 2520 I thought I found that either the 2305 or the 2320 did not have position control on the 3 point hitch, is that true? If so, that's a big difference between these machines. I can't imagine not being able to choose your height on a 3 point hitch. I also find that 5 to 7 more HP and a couple hundred pounds of weight makes a huge difference in what these machines will do. I moved up from a 4100 to the 2520, exact same tractor except for engine and rear tires. The 2520 has 7 more HP and about 250 pounds more weight and it will work circles around the 4100.

bz1,
I cannot speak to the 2305, but yes, the 2320 has position control on the 3pt.
