Well the first big project is getting towards completion!
I was removing some stumps behind the house last fall, so I might turn the area into a yards for my boy to play in. I had a little stream that ran back there. Ran pretty good when it rained... actually just about made the road to the back 40 impassible when it filled up the ruts!
When pulling stumps & clearing brush off, discovered I had pretty nice clay in the stream bed...
So I decided it would be nicer if we had a pond!
Has taken a fair amount of time, but has been done strictly using 3320 with 6 foot boxblade & 300CX loader days when the other work's caught up.
Dimensions are approx. 50 by 100, with completed depth sloping from one foot down to seven.
Installed a 12" primary drain, and will put in a spillway a bit above that... put in a 4" emergency drain outfitted with reductions down to 1.25" and to garden hose, so I can access water for the planned gardens behind the dam
Lots of landscaping, and a bit more earth to move to make a nice path/trail along the dam edge, but I think it'll be a great addition for the family--picnic table, BBQ pit, maybe some bass.
But she's holding water real well, with just a bit of seepage around the 4" drains, which some compaction and clay-facing should resolve...
Wanted to share with you guys, who have been such a help with any & every question I've had.
DO NOT VIEW THOSE PICS--THEY ARE TOO SMALL!
