Need help w oiler on this saw. Drive gear strips and pump want rotate. I replaced the pump and new drive gear. This saw has to be split to change the oil pump (piece of crap design). I hate to buy new parts again and just have them fail. The old pump had a bent shaft, is it possible the housing is not true and causing the problem. I can manually rotate the pump but it looks like its getting caught on the oiler adjustment screw if its not turned way in. Before I scrap this any advise would be appreciated.

I think I have a 338 service manual for these. I'll check and link if I do.

Worked on 338's but never had to do oiler on them. 2 different ones in pics with 2 different issues.

Wow, Thanks for the attachment. On page 52 it shows a guide "part C", not sure my saw has that. Do you know what its for?

Not a clue never paid attention to there to notice. Some saws dont have the rubber guide deal for oil channel and some do.
Dont recall any my 338's having them and owned 3 myself.
