When we turn the key on, the little glow plug indicator no longer comes on. I switched the bulb with another light that does work and the other light still works and not the GPI - so - it is not the bulb.

The tractor still starts, but it really takes a while sometimes and longer that it used to all the time. Also, we no longer hear the little "click" the glow plug relay used to make when the key came on and then when the times turns it off.

It seems to me we need a relay.

Anyone know where to get the relay? It is made by Poong Sung.

Any thoughts are welcome

I have a FT 360 DTC and what few parts I have needed I got from a fellow who used to post on here named SESS, he was a FT dealer before Escort's plugged everybody, he is located in Bushnell which is 30 or 40 miles South of Ocala, I'm sure if you call him he can send you one or tell you where you can get one. If that does'nt work there was a Montana dealer in Ocala and as you probably already know they had an identical model that was made by LS that parts are identical which could be a backup plan for parts. Sess's number is(352)793-1876 hope this helps as he has always been helpful to me and done what he said he would do. Good luck.

I replaced mine with a powerstroke ford relay that you can buy at Napa. See this post, http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/montana/156288-need-glow-plug-relay.html they seem to fail often enough that I didnt want to have to track one down from a dealer every time it went out.

Since being a dealer, in 1998 when Long started inporting these LG-LS tractors ( 280, 360 models ), I have only sold two of the start relays. Having 67+ tractors out, I don't understand why you are going through so many. Sounds like another problem could be shorting their life span. Trac

I don't always get what I am trying to say right on the internet.:confused2::eek: I have only replaced mine once, and it was with an aftermarket one. Mine went out at 300 hours when the tractor was about 3 years old. I figured that if I was going to replace this thing every 300 hours I would replace it with something I could get at the local parts store. Mine very well could have been a fluke and I just jumped the gun, although there are two others on this board that have had problems.

Update:

Montana had the parts in stock. The Farmtrac 360 takes the same relays as the Montana 3840.

The Glow plug relay was $29 and the timer relay was $32

They recomended chaning both as one can cause the other to fail. I'm sure this helps them sell more parts. However, I have experienced the multi-part damage chain before. And, with a total of about $60 (tax included) we opted for both.

Did you get it from the Montana dealer in Ocala? or is there another Montana dealer around here that I don't know about?

From Allen Tractor in Ocala. Phone 352-840-0200

There looks to only be 3 Montana dealers in Fl. Other than Ocala, the next closest to our area would either be the one in Eustis, Fl or Tyty, Ga.
