WOW!!
One of the last farm sale I every auctioned we sold a JD 4020. It was one year old about 200 hours. The owners bought it for $8750.00 the year before the sale and we sold it for $12,000. If you remember around that time it was almost impossible to buy new farm equipment. So much of it was being sent overseas, to Russia I think.
It is hard for me to think of a 4020 as Vintage, but it is. The last memory I have of a 4020 was standing on the platform behind the steering wheel and asking for bids. Thanks for bringing back good, no great memories. That sale was for two brothers. They sold their dairy farm to a sod grower. They had great machinery. Largest farm sale I ever had. We started at 10:00 a.m. and finished a little after 5:00 p.m. I was 37 years old and sold every item myself. You don't see many auctioneers today selling everything. But I had a great set of pipes. Largest commission I every made. If you are from New Jersey or surrounding area you might remember our form. A.J. Worrell and Son Auctioneers.
