John Deere 3320
Hi. Has anyone recently moved a 448 backhoe from the John Deere 3000 series to a 4000 series? Is anyone think of doing such in the near future?

I have located a 448 that was mounted on a 4000 series and my tractor is a 3320. The attachment pieces are different and expensive. The tractor mounting plates with the backhoe are for 4510-4720 tractors and the backhoe has a large frame adaptor.

I would really like to find a medium frame adaptor for the 448 backhoe...

I have a 2008 JD 3320 with 447 BH. At the time the 448 was an option as well, so if nothing else you should be able to purchase the tractor plate from JD.

I saw a JD 4410 yesterday with a 448 mounted. From a physical appearance point of view the BH side of the mount looked the same as on my 447.

Not sure if this helps.

If you have a CAB version neither will fit.

Threads that considered whether to purchase of 447 vs 448 for a 3000 series have often pointed out that the 448 could be mounted to the larger 4000 series. While that is true, it is not a simple matter.

The 448 manual has the following note: Large frame adapter or medium frame adapter is required for model 448 backhoe. So any used 448 will have the large or medium frame adapter on the backhoe.

Has anyone really considered changing the adaptors vs just selling and purchasing a new backhoe?

The question is whether there is a chance of finding a medium frame adaptor for the 448 backhoe that someone is anxious to part with.

That is not the one. However I did speak with McGrew and they are verifying whether the attachment is for the 3000 or 4000 series. I will check again with him later today.

That's not entirely true. The 448 and 485 are the exact same hoe, however the mounting bracket is different. So if you wanted to mount a 448 to a 4000 cabbed unit you'd just need a bracket. Not sure on the 3000 cab mount.

Is the mounting bracket you refer to on the tractor or on the backhoe?

The JD parts catalog shows LVB25613 as the attachment kit for the 485 bh to attach to the 3000 series. The kit is attached to the backhoe with 8 bolts. Does this same kit attach the 448 to the 3000 series?

It's best to consult with your dealer on the correct bracket. The JDparts site can be difficult to navigate.

I thought the OP said he has a 3x20. As stated the 447 / 448 / 485 will not fit a CAB 3x20. The 475 fits a CAB 3x20. If he has an OS that's a different story.
